ive found a..

well im not sure.

it might be a bug, or it might be just the absence of a feature.

basically if i try to linkgrab a playlist, and a file is detected as offline, and i click 'analyze and add links' it will use the 'customized package name for single videos' formatting instead of the playlist version despite the fact i was originally trying to add it as part of a playlist.

you'll probably see a lot of 'offline files' errors aswell in the log, god knows im having issues with it, but im sure you're already aware of all that.

my JD2 does not capture this video:

It gets the thumbnail, the description and the captions but not the video or audio.

It's just some videos, not all of them, and they are online and not age restricted.

I have noticed a novel and minor, yet slightly annoying bug:

* copy link to video within a playlist (I use Watch Later for testing this)
* copy link to video WITHOUT playlist

Expected: second link copy does nothing, scanned but not added.

Current result: it adds to the same package a clone of each file, so in effect doubles amount of items and triggers annoying replace/rename calls for action when downloading this package without any manual cleanup, because the files are exactly the same in both size and filename.

@goratnik: new feature that got introduced recently because we thought it would be better to allow duplicates when videos are in playlists, else this would mean adding 2 playlists that share same videos, the shared videos randomly show up in one of the 2 added playlists then, not on both. we will soon add an setting for this to change back to old/previous behaviour

I'll do that when the error occurs again. For the moment, my downloads ran through. I only had to be logged in all the time.

Or maybe preserve and check scanning context? My problem is with single videos and it is imaginable for the same user to download both single videos AND playlists, so with a setting forcing approach applicable to just one use case it would be a bit of trial&error or clicking through tabs every time before even copying links.

Edit: on the other hand, while I don't recall downloading a single playlist for years (set as "Do nothing" for playlists), even if I tried, I have this as "Put each video into a separate package" without any playlist references, so any duplicate references across playlists would end up with duplicate files tripping over each other. Maybe duplicate links should be an implicit effect of "Put all videos in one package", while "...separate package" would have the old restrictive approach?

Edit 2: a small doc glitch I just noticed - description of *LNG* uses Spanish for its examples, except for the shortest code, which is EN. It would be more consistent to have the first example as ES /OCD rulz

That's not how duplicate handling works. Each link has internal ID and it is checked if ID already is in list or not. That's why the ID cannot be connected to how the link is added or under what settings. I will brainstorm with team about possibile/good solutions for this.

Had the same problem yesterday, didn't know why.

An hour ago, I asked my internet provider (Orange France) to change my IP adress and it's now working again, I don't know how long it's gonna work but for now, it's back to normal.

Maybe Youtube blocks some IPs when they download a lot (it's my case...), I don't really know

Did you try to restart your router/change your IP ? That worked for me

Also, some other Youtube Downloader websites didn't let me download videos either, just like JD, and now with my new IP everything works perfectly fine.
However, I've never had a problem to download the MP3 version of these videos, that's weird...

intermittent linkgrabber functionality, it'll break, throw errors for about 200 packages, and start working again.

the broken packages will have java(?) code nonsense in their names, that i shy from posting here as i am unsure if it is identifiable in any way, but im sure anything important would be in the log anyway.

more noteworthy parts of the package names include "HTTP⁄1 1 400 Bad Request" and "⁄watch¿bpctr=9999999999"

to be clear, i do not expect a fix for this anytime soon considering youtubes new bout of like, i merely intend to make sure you know about it so it does eventually get fixed.

also, unrelated to my bug post, lil headsup to my fellows:

in my area it seems like youtube times you out if simultaneous downloads exceeds 4.

worked for a bit (under 15 minutes) but the account i was using seems to have been blocked from youtube because i entirely cannot view videos while im logged into it.

i expect this to only be a temporary block or some bug related to their new anti adblock crap, rather then an actual hard ban, considering the account still exists and the gmail still sends email just fine.

in letzter Zeit kommen hier immer mehr Beiträge von deutschsprachigen YT Kanälen nur in english an auf der YT Seite kann man sie aber in deutsch schauen.

Wohne in Frankreich was ja auch ersichtich ist solange kein VPN dazwischen ist aber das mit YT ist recht neu auch google was ich hier immer auf deutsch eingestellt hatte wird seit neusten nur in franz. angezeigt vor kurzen war das noch komplett anders!

A couple of things regarding Youtube languages.
I've gotten a lot of mileage out of the Youtube: Extra Subtitles setting, especially with channels like Crecganford who has captions for more languages than is normal (he even has a video with Sanskrit subtitles). Since I can never know what subtitles a video might have ahead of time, I added every language. It took a bit of time since I had to format the text from where I copied the language abbreviations from (adding commas and quotation marks). Is there a place I can paste the correctly formatted text so other people can have all the language codes in an easy-to-reach post? Could be a useful resource for people as obsessive as myself.

In a similar vein to this, I was wondering if it would be possible to make a Youtube: Extra Audio Language setting that functions the same way. I'm sure everybody here is aware of Tom Scott and his videos with multiple audio dubs. It would save me a bit of time if I could have the additional language dubs be added as multiple audio files since programs like VLC allow you to play a video and audio file simultaneously (with the audio appearing as a track that can be toggled). I don't know if you have plans on implementing multi-track MKVs, but this would be a good alternative IMO. Saves you from having to deal with muxing the different audio tracks and just downloads them separately (I wouldn't know how difficult either is though).
