Nope you're wrong - this has nothing todo with what we're doing.
We never added an official Application to login into google.
We always logged in via user & password.
Unfortunately this works for a lot of websites but not anymore for Google ... because they're doing their job and keep bots out.

So far there are several reasons for us against making an official app and using their API which is why we still rely on basically using Google via browser/cookies.

See my previous post(s) - the next update should help with this ...

Sure there is.
Normal GDrive URLs will work just fine.

Links with limited quota will only work when adding your Google Account which should work fine again after the next CORE-update.

It should work after the next CORE-update you say. Got any ETA on that?

The CORE-update have already been released weeks ago.
Add your account as docs.google.com and follow the instructions you will see in JD.
If it doesn't work, post a DEBUG-log here.

Unfortunately it doesn't seem to work and I've followed the exact instructions. The (Firefox) addon even said the cookie was copied to the clipboard succesfully.

No and I never accused you of spamming - it's just our security measures to prevent spam posts coming through and being readable by other users.

Yes technically they're the same but there are multiple reasons why you would want to add an account:
Youtube:
- E.g. download videos that are private / only viewable by you
- Some 18+ videos can only be downloaded with an active Google account

Google (in JD "docs.google.com"):
- Download GDrive content which cannot be downloaded without an account
(See previous pages of this thread)
--> Without account, JD will display the error "Skipped - Account missing" for such files.

If none of these reasons are given there is no need for you to add your Google account to JD ...

Don't worry, I never meant you accused me But I thought maybe my account was hacked and someone spammed with it.
I guess it's because I haven't used the account for long... Anyway, doesn't really matter.

I was trying to add my YT account. Then later on I also tried with Google docs but neither worked.

But... actually I've come to realize I don't need it anyway! I was only tying to add my account as I thought it might increase DL-speeds.
I'm not trying to DL private videos or anything like that... so it appears I don't even need to add my account

I'll leave it at that.

Hi, i have that problem where the jdownloader is not using the account that i added. Even after adding the account correctly and receiving the confirmation that the account was successfully been added and showing the type of account it is. I tried with multiple links and all gave the message "Skipped - Account is missing".

I followed all the instructions with the cookie plugin and everything, both with my regular instalation and with a clean one, same result.

Here i leave you a clean Debug log i did with the clean installation and only my gdrive account, hope it helps:

Thanks for the response, i just opened my jdownloader and the links started downloading without any problem... idk what was happening, but for sure was not a quota limit, blocked file or something like that.

I did not tried to download the file manually when the error appeared, so if it happens again i will try that, but i never had any problem downloading files manually(while logged with my account) from where i got the links that i was trying to download, so i don't think the problem was that.

But i noticed something when tried to download one of them in incognito, the first time i tried it said "access denied" or something like that, and after closing and reopening the incognito i was able to download it, so maybe it's just some temporal problem with the gdrive service... if it happens again i will try to investigate

Edit: Could you add a separate error message into the gdrive plugin for the error you mentioned in the code box of your message? it will be very helpful because the "skipped - missing account" is misleading and sounds like the plugin is malfunctioning when that's not the case, it's not that relevant, but would be nice to have it and probably you will avoid some false-positive bug reports in the future, thx

skipped account is missing is a result of exhausting all download candidates, and the last one tried is the free non account method, which triggers the account required exception which is what is displayed. If you double click on the status column it will display all the candidates tried/used and error messages.

Download impossible - add Google account and retry or wait and retry later

--> Retry in 2 hours

With account:

Download impossible - wait and retry later or import the file into your account and dl it from there

--> Retry in 2 hours

I just saw you finally added a workaround for this GDrive's issue, but I'm wondering if you are planning to further improve it, in a way the cookies' related task can be avoided? I mean, couldn't you make JD2 behaves like the "IDM" program, which doesn't need no extra steps to use the system's cookies whenever a download is invoked through the browsers. That way, provided there are valid cookies already stored by some browser, aptly downloadable files will just get started right away.

Sure we could but we do not want to make use of these/get users' permissions to grab cookies.

Also, in my tests, my Google cookies never expired - all I want to say with this is:
Adding them should be a one-time-process - my initially added test-account-cookies are valid for 3+ months by now ...

Have you thought about providing support for service accounts? This rclone page describes the process: **External links are only visible to Support Staff****External links are only visible to Support Staff**

This would alleviate download limits considerably, since service accounts are generally intended for use with non-browser applications in the first place.

No - at this moment, the usage of the GDrive API is not planned thus service accounts will not be supported.

We're open source so you're welcome to contribute code to JDownloader.
