Default JD1 no longer saving and restoring the download queue?

Hello.

I entered some download links into the JD1 Download queue, for files hosted on keep2share.cc. After exiting JD1 and then restarting it the next day, the Download queue was empty.

I tried 3 tests this just now:

- Entered download links into the JD1 queue, exited, restarted.

- Entered download links, hit File, Save, Save Linklist, exited, restarted.

- Entered download links, hit File, Save, Backup, exited, restarted.

In all three cases, when JD1 started up again, the Download queue was empty.

Is there an option that must be enabled so that JD1 will save and restore the download list?

Where does JD1 store the download queue? Maybe that file was accidentally set to read only.

Please check /config/database.script, if it's too big, you need to increase Java heap space, or reduce the number of links.

The database.script file is 6,024KB. Is that too big?

I entered only one link from Keep2share.cc into the download queue.

I used that command line to start JD1.

After JD1 came up, I entered a K2S.cc link, waited for a minute, then exited JD1 using the "X" button on the top right corner.

I then started JD1 using the java -Xmx1024m -jar JDownloader.jar command line and when it started, the download queue was empty.

BTW, sometimes I run JD1 and JD2 at the same time. (FWIW, the reconnect script for my Dlink router doesn't work in JD2 but does work in JD1. Also, the deep link inspection in JD1 works on a web site to extract mp3 files. The JD2 deep inspection doesn't work on that site.).

I tried a few more tests.

- Shut down all programs. Started JD1 from the desktop icon, entered a single K2S.CC link, waited, exited JD1. Then I restarted JD1. The download queue was empty.

- Shut down all programs. Started JD1 from the command line java -Xmx1024m -jar JDownloader.jar, entered a single K2S.CC link, waited, exited JD1, restarted JD1. The download queue was empty.

JD2 doesn't have this problem, only JD1.

AFAIK, no one else has mentioned this problem, there must be something specific to my system.

Perhaps the database.script file is too big or has been corrupted.

Less then 10 MB is not too big, maybe It's broken or corrupted.
Try remove some links instead of add links.
If still fails, try delete all links or start with empty list (settings will be requested).

if you assume config/ is corrupted, adding and deleting objects inside JDownloader interface is pointless. Your better off closing JD, renaming config/ to config.old/ and restarting (this will create new configs).

I also guess the config is broken. Backup the folder and then delete it / rename it.
Then JDownloader 1 config should work again.

That worked.

FWIW, the database.script file was about 400K in the new constructed config folder compared to about 6M in the old one.

Thanks for the feedback. In old JD1, as all is saved within a single file, a corruption of that file causes very bad problems. In JD2 this no longer can happen.

I suspect what happened was a result of occasionally downloading podcasts from a sports web page.

I have to use the deep link inspection feature of JD1, which can detect the mp3 file but also finds all the icons and other objects on the web page.

A few times, I've accidentally sent all the detected objects into the download queue, which can add up to 300+ entries. I clear the download queue as fast as I can before everything is downloaded.

But that big load of entries is likely why the database.script file was so big and probably why it became corrupted.

Is there any way to shrink the size of that file and correct the corruption but also preserve the settings?

JDownloader does this automatically in case it still can work with database. I would finish links and then start with fresh config

OK, thanks.

I noticed your post about JD1 no longer being updated in the file host forum.

So I think I'll switch to JD2 and find some other way to download the mp3 podcast files, other than using JD1.

JD1 and JD2 should be able to download the podcast using the deep decrypt method. In JD2 you can filter results via file type or filename and just add the audio you want, and delete the rest.

JD1 takes quite a long time to load and I'd prefer to run just one program. JD1 was able to handle the podcast download and everything else as well.

I found that I can use the Firefox "View Page", then "Media", which brings up a list of all the objects on that podcast web page. I can then save the mp3 from the object list.

I'm always running Firefox anyway, so I'll use JD2 as the download manager and Firefox to download the podcasts.

JD1 deep decrypt was able to find all the objects on the web page but the JD2 deep decrypt usually comes up with an empty list. JD2 generally can do everything JD1 does, except for that one thing.

If you're curious, this is an example of a podcast link:

**External links are only visible to Support Staff****External links are only visible to Support Staff**

JD1 brings up a big list of objects and one of them is the mp3 file. JD2 displays one file link, which is listed as offline.

It's a bug. Will fix it as soon as possible

Yes JD1 works and JD2 only finds one link -> bug

Thanks.

BTW, I suspect if you enter that link into JD1 and then send the big list of objects into the download queue, you'll probably replicate the database.script corruption that prevents JD1 from saving and then restoring the download queue.

Many links do not cause database.script corruption. There are many possible causes for this. Java crashes/JDownloader kills/PC Shutdown without closing JDownloader.....
