1. Stop all downloads and remove your google/YT account from JD.
2. Re-add your account and refresh it until login fails.
3. Repeat step two some times
4. Upload your new log and post your logID here.

No, it has not been like this for years now, just like the other guys said already it happened to drastically change over the last weeks and especially days, as reflected by the reports above.

Until a couple of weeks ago I always had about 2-3 MB/s per video with 3 chunks per download.
Then it started to drop to 120-140 KB/s(!) per video occasionally, however the mentioned download reset fixed it immediately for the most part.
Since only a few days getting a "fast slot" required to reset the downloads again and again and again and again until it finally succeeded.
As of today, this doesn't work anymore at all :'[
(which is why I finally came back here again to check for statements on the matter)

I have a feeling YT rolled out the throttling "feature" consecutively over their various servers and cdns during that period, which is why the reset "fix" happened to work less and less often over time.

Quote:
Only way to increase bandwidth is to increase max connections/chunks but that can also lead to faster blocking by yt.
Since I figured 3 sim. dl/hoster + 3 chunks/dl = 9 connections prevented IP blocking pretty well the past months, I raised the chunks to 10/dl and tried only one download at a time.
Obviously, that increased the 120-140 KB/s only to about 400 KB/s, which is still less than a quarter of what I had at the least with 3 chunks/dl on the unthrottled connections. So that's no permanent solution.

Just clarifying here in the interest of anyone who already reported the issue.
I'm fully aware the JD team - most likely - can't do anything about it.
It's on Youtube alone, and unfortunately it's safe to say it will be permanent.

Indeed it seems like they added some kind of new detection/restriction although I'm unable to reproduce this here - I just saw a lot of reports regarding other download tools too.

Hmmm, now that's very interesting!

So possibly this means Google even went through the hassle to apply the throttle on a per IP basis?
Meaning, it might affect only those who download at high speeds frequently?
I'm not that of a heavy downloader tho, maybe 5 or 6 videos a day

If anyone else reads this who is also not affected by the throttle I'd like to hear from you.
A random thought, could using a VPN help by any chance?
Or would that make things only worse due to many users channelled through the same IPs?
Are there VPNs who can provide seperate individual IPs per connection?
I'm a VPN noob, so everyone please excuse my rambling

@JDmurphy: Thanks for the feedback! Maybe I mixed it with normal *slow* speed that I'm aware of. I don't think it's connected to IP but more likely to rolled out/still rolling out changes.

I just wanted to say that i am having the exact same issues but just at higher speeds, everything from the occasional slow download that started a week or so ago, which resetting would fix, to now every single download being slow.

I normally can max out my connection downloading from Youtube at approx. 12MB/s but can now only get 1.1MB/s - 1.2MB/s when downloading anything. I leave it on 20 chunks as that seems to get the highest speed. (Also no other hosts download speed is affected)

If its important, i live in Australia.

Hi All .I'm glad to see others posting about YT Throttling .I noticed that a couple days ago. They must of learned that from the cloud drives since they do it all the time....

Google search of YT throttling came up with many results as I just found out now.

As I already wrote, a few days ago I only got around ~500 KiB/s in total.
Since yesterday it's much better again and I almost get my "full" 25Mbit/s again.
I currently have 6/3 (Total DL / Chunks) set.

It would be great if it stayed that way, but in the end it is in Google´s hand. :-|

Greetings,
Martin

I guess not since there would probably have been an announcement ...

Anyways, I just wanted to report that I got a popup from 4k Video Downloader a few days ago that they're aware of the issue and "working on a solution".
Since it's 4k VD that doesn't necessarily mean much ( ) but maybe they're actually on to something. Since it seems to be reproducable for you too now I got a few ideas in case there's some manpower available to work on this.

I just applied the latest update as well (as of the time of this post) and was stunned to see a download start with my full 100Mbps speed. I don't know if the JDownloader team had anything to do with it or not, but for the moment everything is back to normal for me.

Yeah, after it only improved somewhat at first, I can now confirm that as of today everything is back to normal for me as well. So for the time being, anyone at AppWork please ignore the rest of my above post.
The silence regarding the matter is a lil sus tho
