See here, https://board.jdownloader.org/showthread.php?t=71069
You've got to manually install the rar5 supported extraction library

the libs folder within your JDownloader installation. You can access the JDownloader folder from the about dialog of JDownloader. click on the path

inside the zip you'll find a ARM7 folder, extract those two jar files into the libs folder and try again

Please do the following:

Close JDownloader
delete Core.jar and the folders update, tmp and libs
then start JDownloader again and it will update itself
then place the library there again
and start JDownloader with

java -DsevenzipLibID=Linux-arm -jar JDownloader.jar
and try arm6 and arm7 version

There is special handling for rasberry pi, that's why you have to manually set the *to use version* once

looks like permissions are wrong
please make sure to start JDownloader as pi user
and fix permissions with
sudo chown -R user:group /home/pi/jdownloader2

ok its seems everthing workout at last was able to download and extract with the arm7 file on raspberry pi 3b but there where a magnitude of errors during the installation process. i took screen shot of the errors so to understand what the problem are being cased by.

firstly the headless guide did not work the command java -jar JDownloader.jar -norestart did start but end without asking to login as the guide suggested even after tryinh multiple times.

second there was this error **External links are only visible to Support Staff**error labeled as missing write permission to install updates. I did sudo chown -R pi /home/pi/jdownloader2 seems that worked.

third then there was this error. **External links are only visible to Support Staff**error unexpected IO error cased during update it took a long time to download all of the updates i left it to download for the night by morning it was done. after i transferred the arm7 files and installed schedule plugin it restarted jdownloader restarted i gave a link to download it successfully downloaded & extracted it.

thanks that did it but would be still better to know what are the case of these error

Thanks for the feedback/update. It's important that you always use the same user (pi) and not switch between pi and root(sudo) else this causes file owner to change and you have to fix permissions/owner via chown again.

What download speed do you get for http://cdn8.appwork.org/speed.zip ? I wonder why it took a night to download the updates. Where are you from? (Country)?

The unexpected IO error is a reliable sign for broken/defect storage. I would recommend to do a block scan and filesystem check!

I only took to linux after reading an article on howtogeek about how to convert raspberry pi into a torrent box. i used jdownloader on windows long before that but having a 35$ raspbeerry pi do all the downloads instead of my computer is way better. still linux as not easy. yesterday night update download speed was around 65kbps while i get 250 kbps speed normally. i am from india don't know if that was the case. IO error will need to check memory card for sure thanks for the advice. Please update the forum "Public Betatest for RAR5 support" for ARM devices as well.
