Default Some skins that need a tweak in design

Hey guys,

I was just fiddling around with the various skins in JDownload, and came across 4 things that I thought might be worth addressing here.

1) The "Close" (cross) button is invisible on the 'Synthetica Standard' skin.

2) The barber's pole animation for the traffic consumption doesn't work on the premium menu, but it works for the mini icon on the bottom toolbar.

3) In all Synthetica skins, right-clicking the JDownloader icon on the top-left does not work, while it works in all the Substance skins.

4) Synthetica Orange Metallic & Sky Metallic have a problem displaying the premium account settings window on the "User Interface" tab. However, I'm pretty sure that this issue only occurs with certain screen size resolutions, rather than this being a generic problem. I use 1280x800, so this problem will most likely occur for those with a height smaller than (or equal to) 800 pixels (1366x768, 1280x768, 1024x768). And, according to a survey by Steam in August 2009, 28.16% of people use these screen resolutions (Wikipedia), which means 1 in 4 people might have this problem.

HOWEVER, I don't personally consider this as an issue, or a bug, or something of concern. It might be worth tackling, just to rearrange the "User Interface" and prevent this problem, but this can easily be avoided by just moving to any other less cluttered menu pane in the Settings.

Right, thats all I found for now. Hope it's not too much of a hassle to fix. I apologise for not cropping some of the pictures to minimise the resolution size and have greater focus on the areas.

Cheers!

I also realised that the settings pane (in this case, for rapidshare) takes up quite a lot of space on the main window, and as such, might I recommend the use of a modal, pop-up window to show settings?

And could it also be possible to maybe have a special view for settings of various hosters? It's basically like this; in order to view the settings of one hoster, I must click on "Settings" on the bottom left, that's all fine. BUT, if I change the hoster, then instead of automatically 'refreshing' the settings pane (assuming that there are settings, otherwise hosters without settings would not show up), i have to reselect the "Settings" button, which I think is a bit of useless movement... I know this may seem like a fastidious matter, but just wondering what others think.

Cheers!

Which Look & Feel is this?

I fixed the problem 1 by changing the painted icon to a UIManager-independent one...

The skin used in problem 2 is Synthetica Black Eye.

what jiaz wants to say: we can't do anything to solve this issue :-( but someone could report this issue to the synthetica developers **External links are only visible to Support Staff**hxxp://www.jyloo.com/synthetica/ ... ^^

Oh right, I had no idea that it was developed by another group.

So, how's the status of the bugtracker?

I see that a revision has been made, but I can't tell what is still pending correction. Or is the job already done?

Thanks for the update! ^^

as i already said, problem 1 should be fixed...
i need to check problem 4 again and maybe discuss it with the other devs for finding a good solution (maybe popup? maybe scrollbar?)...
all the other problems are Look-And-Fell dependent... so we can't do anything to solving them :-( maybe some next updates of the used L&F-libraries will help us :-)

Okay, fair enough. All makes sense to me now.

Thanks for the clarification.

UPDATE, found another problem:

1) Update dialog for "Substance Raven" is in black text, making it hard to read.

My recommendation is to check all dark coloured LAF's for this.

I also noticed that the "What has changed?" link is in a different font to the rest of the skin. Could this be changed to the skin's font?

Cheers!

Read the PM I sent you ....

It's a LAF-dependent issue, and since this is not our default LAF (Simple 2D), we wont include a workaround for this... :-( Sorry, but then we have to include many workarounds cause every LAF has some little issues.. :-(
