Default Java 7 or java 8

What is the best version of java to install to work the jd2?

Either is fine, Both are still maintained by Oracle. Just keep a eye on Java7 end of life date, as after that time you could be susceptible to exploits or unfixed bugs compared to Java8.

What is better to install java 7 or 8 and why?
