Unhappy JDownloader wouldn't update, now won't install

JDownloader2 has been working fine for a while (Win 10). Yesterday it kept telling me it could not update, and to wait a couple of hours, and then either contact support, or re-install if the problem did not resolve. It did not work by the end of the day, so I decided to un-install and re-install. Both the adware version of the installer and the clean installer crash and fail after numerous "can't connect to the Inrernet" messages. (It still fails after deleting the AppData\Local folder as well.)

I can keep clicking cancel/next until it gets to the "download version information..." screen. When I cancel the pop-up on that one, the install crashes.

It says it can't connect to an URL like http://update.appwork.org/jcgi/pkg?rt=..... (ridiculously long string that won't fit on screen)

At that point, I get a dialog with the options "ok" and "show log file." Clicking either terminates the install, and the show log option opens an empty text file.

Anyone have any ideas?

Check firewall/av, it's blocking access to the url.

Either disable firewall/av or add JDownloader/java or the url to whitelist of firewall/av.

I don't have any special firewall/av installed, just what comes with Win10. If I plug the URL above (minus the long string) it reaches the server, so I don't think it's anything on my end blocking it.

Without a log I can't tell, but the message is very clearly.
Please create a log, see https://support.jdownloader.org/Know...d-session-logs and select all sessions and post shown logID here

We can also take a look via Teamviewer, just contact me via support@jdownloader.org

I un-installed the app for a clean start, and now the app doesn't install, so I have no way to create that log per your example. The log referenced in the error message is empty. Do you have a preferred image host where I can add a couple of screenshots to see if they help?

Let's do teamviewer. Screenshots won't help. Installation will fail if the update is blocked

Did I need to put anything particular in the subject? Sent it a bit ago... I didn't think to include the thread info, or your name...

Please check stackoverflow.com/questions/16373906/address-family-not-supported-by-protocol-family-socketexception-on-a-specific
seems like malware can cause network stack issues
remove (if installed) RelevantKnowledge and PremierOpinion

In Logs: java.net.SocketException: Address family not supported by protocol family: connect
