Default Rapidshare Link checker Issue

Hi

Strictly speaking, this may not be a bug but something that could be looked into (Please feel free to move it to another section if necessary).

I have a premium RS account. There are certain words (often words associated with adult content) that are blocked/filtered by some ISPs.

In these cases, the Link Checker in Linkgrabber reports them as "temp.uncheckable"

However, since RS changed its download to SSL, they are download-able (because word filtering does not work with SSL).

Shouldn't/couldn't the Link checker also use SSL to check RS links?

Thank you for your hard work
:)

Hi Jiaz

here are an example. Of course, if you are not suffering from ISP filtering, you won't see the issue that I am referring too

Here they're online. Did you use a proxy server in your browser to check them?

It's because of RS's SSL support that you can download them. I suppose RS has no SSL link checker yet or jD doesn't support it.

the links are online here aswell
sure its not your local firewall/av that blocks the call.
there are only very few isp (eg china) which check the complete traffic. this needs a huge serverfarm for live checking of all traffic.

what firewall/av do you have?
can you open the pages in your browser?

@Eros

What's the DNS you're using? Did you set any adult related blocking in it?

Thank you all for your replies.

I am currently in a country that rivals (and exceeds) China's traffic filtering
I guess admin can see that from my IP

yes..I am aware of DNS & firewall issues (I am an advanced net user) and yes I do have to use a proxy in the browser to bypass filtering of certain sites and/or URLs with certain keywords.

Once again, such filtering is not effective on SSL (due to the encrypted traffic) therefore I am able to download such links/files from RS without using any proxies.
However, as I said, the link checker in JD seems to use normal http request, therefore links appear to be off-line while they are not.

My question was, whether it would be possible to implement SSL link checking for RS in JD?

I am going to start the JDchat to see if Jiaz is online.

PS. Adult oriented keywords were just an example and the filtering is NOT limited to such words. It was a convenient demonstration.
For example the word "Valentine" is among the filtered words !!??

I think you're in the same situation (but different country) than Marion in "Can I Import Decrypted Links From Another Instance Of Jdownloader?"

Note that your dictatorship is still 'light' compared to that of North Korea where the people (except the power elites) don't know what "the Internet" or "the Web" means.

@remi

yes....but just barely better than North Korea
Where I am, majority of file hosting sites except RS & HF (at the moment) are blocked.
Do you want to know a painful fact?
I am paying around $150 per month for 512kb internet connection which is unreliable and heavily filtered
When I was in UK, I was paying around $40 (£25) per month for 40 mb connection...

interesting, for me they showed as offline in browser 'ERROR: File ID invalid. (1b3bfd9e)' and in jd. no filtering done by my isp either, very strange.

That's why I'm still hoping that Jiaz will build a hyperspace, anti-censorship bypass downloader that will lead to free speech and freedom of data exchange for all people on this planet.
