I believe jd2 can accept any host links without need to create a new plugin.

incorrect, plugins are required for host that has multiple steps in order to start the download.

fyi. it's only picked up by generic plugin due to the file extension (in your examples .rar)

You don't get to criticise them for having "only one developer" just because something that you need is not ready.
