What OS are you using? Please try this https://support.jdownloader.org/Know...r-installation
additionally delete the tools folder
When JDownloader asks to install ffmpeg again, yes and then hit update button and restart JDownloader

JDownloader Folder -> update/versioninfo/JD/extensions.installed.json

I just found out: If you delete that file it also helps to solving the issue.

@tarvom: Thanks for the feedback. I'm still trying to reproduce the issue/find the cause. When it happens again, please report here again.

please try the following method, see https://support.jdownloader.org/Know...r-installation
also delete the tools folder. Then JDownloader will ask for ffmpeg, click yes, then hit the update button and restart JDownloader.
In case the issue still happens, please report back

Would someone confirm that it must be FFmeg-64bit in order to work with the latest version/built of JD2.

I tried copying a working version of JD2 from a 64-bit OS to a 32-bit-legacy OS and FFmpeg would not work, it gave a "Skipped - FFmpeg missing" with no options to install.

I tried to manually use an older 2017 32-bit version of FFmpeg but JD2 gave the same error. It appears that it will only work with a 64-bit OS.

If there is a 32-bit version of FFmpeg that will work with the current built of JD2 in a 32-bit OS, I would appreciate the confirmation.

Thanks

Edit-1: Ok, I changed the path to both fields but unfortunately I'm getting host problem after the download reaches 100%.

Edit-2: Ok, I got it working. I grabbed the latest 32-bit files of FFmpeg that actually work and changed the paths again.

JDownloader calls this as external executable/application, so you can also use 32bit executable with 64bit java/JDownloader. But of course the system must provide everything required to run 32bit executables.

Great to hear that you got it working! Maybe you want to share which version/where you downloaded it from with others?

rwijnsma.home.xs4all.nl/files/ffmpeg/?C=M;O=D

or search for: ffmpeg-5.2 win32 or ffmpeg-5.2-2131-fcd557a-win32--xpmod

I’m using ffmpeg-5.2-2131-fcd557a-win32--xpmod-sse from 2023-01-07

Contains all the three files: ffmpeg.exe, ffplay.exe, and ffprobe.exe

All three files must be replaced in the following path/folder:

JD2-installation-folder\tools\Windows\ffmpeg\i386\

We recommend not to do so as JDownloader updates might overwrite those files and break your setup. We recommend to place them somewhere else and then setup paths, see https://support.jdownloader.org/Know...roubleshooting

How to specify what FFmpeg version JDownloader should be using?

Ah, most likely it is Windows XP then? yes, normal ffmpeg has dropped support for that OS long time ago and needs backwards compatible builds to still run on "legacy" OS.

Yes, that is correct, it is for an old 32bit-xp and those ffmpeg files are from 2023.
JD2 still updates fine on that OS with latest core/build.

I keep an archive backup of the i386 folder and I always make a backup of the JD2 folder prior to any updates.

I also have JD2 in a newer 64-bit OS that uses only the 64-bit versions of ffmpeg.

May I ask why still use that old OS? why not use modern/secure bsd/linux system instead?
