Thanks for your time spent on this issue.

It confirms again what you've always written about software firewalls and viruses.

Its got nothing to do with software firewall and viruses, atleast in my case.

Jiaz is right about my ISP using transparent proxy. I just called up my ISP about this and they confirmed it. So are there any known ways to circumvent the problem?

If it would be your ISP then you should have the same problem in your browser and you don't.

I had to assume it wasn't my ISP's fault earlier since browser downloads are still resumable for some reason. There must be an explanation.

This test seems to confirm what my ISP is telling me:

I am no technical expert, just describing what I am experiencing. Way to add to your credibility by calling me a liar, remi. If you don't wanna help, you can bugger off as I never asked for your help. I asked for help from the devs and thanks to Jiaz for his valuable time.

Your comments are contradictory. If your ISP is the problem then you would have the same problems in your browser.

I'm a free man and I can help anyone who needs help. I can help with your mental problems as well. You're a very interesting case.

That's my question too. My ISP says they are using transparent proxy, the lagado transparent proxy cache test is also showing that I am behind a transparent proxy. I cannot resume using Jdownloader. I cannot resume using IDM. Then how can I resume via browser? If you are such an intelligent guy, why don't you answer that?

And you can start by helping yourself. No use sitting behind a computer screen and acting like smarty pants to some random guy on the internet, whom you know nothing about. So far you have been going on and on about that Windows firewall, which I have conclusively proven to be not the troublemaker.

I know more and more about you and I'm building a nice psychological model. The more you write the more complete the model will be and the more I'll be able to categorise you. It's a very nice exercise.

BTW, something on your computer is blocking jD.

Keep at it. Very nice exercise indeed. Hope that model comes in handy for you. Afterall, you have got nothing better to do all day.

And yeah I am sure something is blocking both JD and IDM on all three computers I have, the one with Windows 7, the one with Xp and also the one with Fedora installed. I think I need to borrow your computer too and test it on my network.

It's just fun and it corresponds to what I'm studying. Why did you choose an alias starting with the word 'mad'?

I'm so sorry you don't have a Mac with Safari. If Safari would have the same problem I'll believe you.

@remi
It's not his computer it's the ISP, think that's established now.
No need to call people lairs, nor abuse people, and please keep it friendly OR just don't bother contributing. From outsider point of view you look like a total ass, and its reflecting badly on jdownloader. Please keep your personal point of views to yourself.

thankyou staff.

@madascene
They can do this depending on how the request is given, maybe browser has another method of starting which isn't influenced by the transparent proxy. Try and use wireshark and analyse the header get/post requests/returns. Also clear any history on local disk + browser data saved data. Even use incognito(chrome) or private tab(opera) as this refuses to reload history or local data stored (cookies etc). To me the browser might be saving all the cookie and other info and it totally matches up with your original request??, where as jd and other downloads might start all those session cookies every time a download starts? Not sure just guessing here.

That's a very funny post. I'm learning about you every day. If you think I'm a total ass then that tells a lot about who you really are. I'll add that to your profile.

I already know how you think about me and other customers/lusers. Your opinion about these forums is totally contradictory to what I read all the time. The customers that express their appreciation about these forums write that these customer support forums are way better and faster than most paid customer support organisations.

I'll always express my own opinions as I'm a free man. Only slaves can't express their own opinions.

BTW, if it is indeed true that browsers have a more reliable download engine than jD then I think it would be a good idea to emulate more of the functionality of browsers.

Sorry but you often offend people or at times it could be construed as dry humour but some do not see it that way. I personally don't mind your actions on the forums until you start abuse your 'freedom of speech rights' and you are getting really close here. You can profile all you like I have nothing against that either. Just play nice.

and to your latter paragraph.
I wouldn't compare a standard browser to jdownloader or visaversa. We can mimic browser get/posts when possible so that our actions are not detectable at the hoster. But it's near on impossible to mimic actions for proxies as each proxy might have different parameters, and we will never really understand isp transparent proxy configuration/setups as they're an app in the middle of a protocol type of event. Our plugins design will take preference in this case. The user will either have to change ISP / use a VPN / download remotely VPS, as practical alternatives.

I never offend people. You're wrong. Please provide evidence. I didn't write madascene is a liar.

I was just very surprised that standard browsers in some circumstances are still better and more reliable when it comes to downloading files than specialised download managers like jD.

Thanks for the reply, lumfile free user here, I think "server does not support chunload" means does not allow resume download.

Revision 18494 on 9/16/2012 removed resume download. Wait for plugin update or use JD2 (beta).
