Default javquick.com direct urls are not downloadable

I am be used to copy a link from VIDEO Download Helper and paste it into jDownloader but not in this case.
**External links are only visible to Support Staff****External links are only visible to Support Staff**
I can see that file 582 MB but when I paste it into JDawnloader I can see that a file size 3 Mb. I get from Video Download Helper the same link as if I use in Firefox Page Info - Media Video. When I insert this link into the other browser tab I am able to watch a video but if I try to download it I get these 3 Mb again.

This video is streamed in segments.
Jiaz will have to look if we can easily add support for this.
Until then, try to use VideoDownloadHelper without JDownloader to download this content.

Ahh nice.
Just out of curiosity:
What advantages does their "paid version" have?
Just to be clear:
Using that addon was not any kind of advertisement by us - just an information so please do not pay it because of our "advise"!!
Please keep me updated on whether or not the "Download Helper" team can solve this.

Sidenote:
Even browsers are not able to download those streams (tested with Chrome).
It is also possible that this website did this on purpose to prevent downloading.

If nothing works, you could still use a screen recorder softwasre to get those videos although it takes more time and is very fiddly.

"What advantages does their "paid version" have?"
Paid version include converter. For example you have a stream with .ts files. You have to join then and convert into .mp4. Therefore to download this file you have download all of .mp4 segments and join them. To tell you the true I don't to pay them because I want to download these 4 parts and use Avidemux to join them. Fortunately, I found a 480p resolution of this video at the other web site.

"Using that addon was not any kind of advertisement by us - just an information so please do not pay it because of our "advise""
Yes, I understand. You recommend to use VDH just for link extraction only.

They use a Fluid Player v.3 for video play. I tried all of search engines and I found out a very old article from 2010 which recommend MS IE add-on or Ant Downloader. Please be advised that these recommendations for a Fluid Player v.2. As you can see Ant Downloader is not able to get this video and MS IE is obsolete

I was just wondering if any progress has been made on this? Is this the only site that works like this, or are there others?

@academyoffetishes: I've fixed correct final size recognition with next plugin update, but download doesn't yet work because the server only responds with 3mb chunks and JDownloader doesn't yet support this

Thank you for the information! Is this one of those things where it might take years to get to, or will it be worked on within months?

Are there other websites that work the same way? I'm curious to know if you have to make a special case for this website, or if fixing this will get a lot of other websites to work too.

@academyoffetishes: It's already working with the *next gen* download core, and I'm working on a workaround for the old/current download core.

@academyoffetishes: I've added some workaround/special handling for this streaming. It should work fine after next core update. Please know that you have to rename the filename/package name to shorter length else it will be too long.

Is there any JDownloader settings that I need to tweak to make this work?

I'm using latest version of JDownloader, it can't download from javquick. Whenever I paste the video link (I got it from Video DownloadHelper), the linkgrabber will always show offline status, and an attempt to download it will result into not found error. Using Video DownloadHelper would just download the 3 MB chunk.

For now you will need to try to use VideoDownloadHelper without JDownloader or an external [screen-record] tool to preserve the video content of that website.
We will look into it later.

We've found a small bug resulting in the wrong error message in JDownloader.
You will be able to add the "3MB" Link from VideoDownloadHelper and JD download the full file.
We've just fixed this and released an update.

Thank you, it works now with the revision 48254. Although there was a bit issue, I kept getting "Invalid Download Directory" error when trying to download the video because the package name is too long. The UI is kinda not intuitive. At first, I renamed the package name to something shorter (like "abc" in the attached screenshot), but the download still failed with same error. It turns out the download item can be expanded and there is a child item below which is the file name (I thought package name is the file name) that is also too long, so I need to rename the file name as well (I renamed it to "def" in the screenshot) and then the download would run.

That happens because you got "subfolder by packagename" enabled (which is enabled by default), see:
https://support.jdownloader.org/Know...ackage-feature
We are working on:
- Auto "too long filename" filename truncating
- Better error message whenever something related to the download directory goes wrong

We also got a support article about the error message you mentioned which would have also lead you to the solution:
https://support.jdownloader.org/Know...load-directory

I'm open for feedback but this one is just a beginners' fault. We do not have any fancy beginners tutorials.
If JD would not have packages, adding multiple multi part archives would be a mess in the UI in the end.
The support article I mentioned also shows that packages are expandable if you look at the screenshot in said article.
Also you can configure JD to always auto-expand all added packages:
Settings -> Advanced Settings -> LinkCollector.packageautoexpanded -> Enable this

As explained, some future version will have more precise error messages- and auto filename shortening.
If you want to join the discussion about said feature, feel free to do this here:
https://board.jdownloader.org/showthread.php?t=62683
and:
https://board.jdownloader.org/showthread.php?t=59937
TL;DR
We know about the download directory/filename problem you mentioned.

Thanks for your feedback.
