Reconnect VPN external trigger
I have a static IP and I'm running a JD2 headless docker on a BananPi for the "long jobs".
To improve efficiency, I have been thinking of using a VPN provider to obtain "fresh" IP's. I have a NordVPN account. As the JD is running in a docker, I have to tell the host to reset the VPN somehow. Unless you have better ideas, I thought of letting JD write a trigger file into a exported folder that is monitored by a host side script. If the file is present, the host shall reconnect the VPN and remove the trigger file. I think I'm able to do the bash scripting but, I need help with the JD reconnect script that writes the the trigger file to a custom location. Please include the recent IP that was used by JD into the trigger file. This can be used to verify if the reconnect yielded a new IP. The host side script could also feed back the new IP to JD via a success file. This file could be used to signal to JD that the new connection is ready for use. Better ideas? Appreciate your help with this one! |
