download links
The download links on the "JDownloader 2 Clean Installers (No Adware!)" are reporting they are web forgeries. Hopefully this can be fixed soon.

More worrying than that is the lack of response over the issue. |

@cuticle
re: lack of response, Appwork the company behind JDownloader are responsible do not work weekends. We (non Appwork supporters) typically leave these sort of questions for them. I would say that your warning is a false positive by the browser extension/feature that you have enabled. The provided links in that thread are clean/adware free installers. We offer them as direct link on that thread, or via jdownloader.org/jdownloader2 @pfanne yes legit, Recently Appwork placed all installers jdownloader.org/download or jdownloader.org/download within mega. Not entirely sure why. BTW that url can provide installers with optional adware.

where should i start?
- jdownloader has an official site which most probably can handle users downloading a small web installer. forwarding users to a mega-address where one can't tell whether it is official makes me suspicious - it is not only that. it is also the non-clean installer. after using that i would reinstall windows. - why would you need an anonymizing service like firsturl? from your website? to a shady link? and don't tell me you want to shorten the url because nobody sees the url anyway - why is the installer in a rar archive? last i heard rar is insecure. and archiving it is pointless anyway as it is small. how am i supposed to trust this when i have to ask in a forum if downloading the installer is legit? i never had to do this before. Not sure why they did it, as I stated earlier Appwork controls installers and why and how they are packaged. You will need to wait for Appwork to provide a official answer. Until recently all downloads were .app for mac, sh for linux/unix/bsd (Bash script), exe for windows installer, and multios was a zip or rar (just a compressed installed directory). It was also hosted on our servers.

@pfanne: we have our reasons to choose mega as our hoster for the installer
Installers: - the adware installer is okay. you can decline/skip adware normally. - you can use the adware free installer from http://jdownloader.org/jdownloader or skip/decline adware in normal installer FirstURL: we use first url, because we just have found a bug in our java script that caused all IE users not be able to download the installer. we will fix that next week, when coalado is back at work. its just a temp. workaround. Exe vs RAR: -Main reason is google chrome. It will send every exe/binary downloads you do to its own safebrowsing service. google always gets informed about what you download from where. Feel free to contact us when you want to know more about this.
