No matter what you say to justify your actions:

I downloaded the installer from this website because I hoped that the official providers of software care for their reputation and the reputation of their product. If downloading from other known hosters they try to slip me their bs adwares.

BUT IF I JUST HAD KNOWN YOU have the WORST adware ever. When downloading from other hosters I can at least disable that crap. I did in your installer (yeah and maybe I missed one VERY WELL HIDDEN option, congrats on that!), Chrome (with countless open tabs) closed and when I, already angered, opened again - Welcome, sweet-page! I never asked for this but thanks for the extra work of deinstalling that crap, running anti-malware programs and so on. Seriously, many thanks!

I surely will NEVER install or use any of your crap again. That is what you achieved with your methods. I hope you feel good about it and are proud of yourselves. But this whole thread full of b*tthurt replies to users legitimately complaining says all.

Congrats!

OH and if you wonder: NO I usually don't dig forums first to find a download link not infested with bs. Thanks for your concern and that you are "very willing". Didn't help! Don't spread the infested bs link ON TOP of your download page ffs!

As said @pspzockerscene depens county and other factors, it what installer offers, and I can add also depending of it, if offer just adware or also malware

As my point of view Adware turns into Malware if no way to skip install of it and runs a background process or modify registry in way than you cant change home page

You can ALWAYS skip it no matter where you are.
Also I don't understand why you ppl always use JD as the worst negative example.
Take for example Skymonk - a popular downloadmanager for letitbit.net, shareflare.net and other sites:
skymonk.net/download.html
--> Installer has at least 3 steps with ads and they're not easy to avoid.

Also I don't understand why so many people seem to ignore the fact that we help each one of you who has problems uninstalling the adware - we won't leave you alone and advertising partners who use software that is hard to uninstall or can't be uninstalled at all will be banned from our installer - as far as I know!

I usually don't hate people.
But you people just did it.
You really are the worst!

No, you can't skip the adware...I've seen a lot of installers in recent years, and never unwillingly installed any software addon that I didn't want, as I'm always really careful.
I'm certain that I unchecked all relevant checkboxes.
And don't tell me I did anything wrong (I was able to reproduce it multiple times).
Even after all your excuses, it would still be a scam.
Tbh. I wouldn't mind the malware per se or ads all over jdownloader...I could always get rid of that, but:
Sweetpage read my browser profile and now I'm getting spam on my email adress that I've kept spam-free for all those years. And for me, thats the worst thing that could happen.
I never even sent a mail from that account directly to avoid just that kind of problem.
Just tell me that you can help me with that!!!
How would you like that if it happened to you?

Don't act like you are not responsible!
But you people are so ignorant that probalby only a lawsuit could stop you.

I see what you have done here. You attempted to spread virus. And when people found out about it, you also attempted to beat around the bush because there is no way you could prove that your software is free of trojan. Well played.

Forcing consumers to install adware is definitely not the way to operate a legitimate business. Your people claim that consumers have the option to uncheck the installation. I call that bs. I have just tried the installer on main page, and there is no option to decline the installation of your malware. Whoever makes that claim needs to go do an eye check, please.

Thanks for the link to the "Clean Installer", however.

@jimmy2027
We NEVER forced people to install it.
Take the current installer, show me ANY of the installation steps (screenshot) and I tell you how to disable/skip/decline the installation of adware.
Also, as said thousand times before, if anyone installs it by mistake, we are there and will help you to uninstall it...
If's not as evil as you think!

Only thing I dislike about JDownloader, is the adware in the installer..
By all means, have the options for installing adware in there, but please don't make them so sneaky.

I've spent 3 hours trying to remove the adware now, both by usual uninstall in the control panel, using CCleaner, and Revo Uninstaller.. as well as uninstalled JDownloader and the browsers, and the adware (Safe Finder) still persists.

I'm just going to do a complete reformat.. should only take 3-4 hours to reinstall windows and download updates, so if I had done that immediatly, I'd be done about now.

Edit:

If the Safe Search adware is possible to remove, I'd love to hear how before I bring out the nuke.

I'm on Windows 7, and I've tried to go to the control panel to uninstall it, nothing happens. (Did manage to remove "UPT updater" or something, but not SafeSearch.)
Downloaded CCleaner and tried to remove it with that, didn't work.
Downloaded Revo Uninstaller, it did a scan and did it's own uninstall method.. even removed 50+ registry entries, and the Safe Search adware still persists.

So, before I nuke my install, I'd be interested in hearing any of your ideas to remove the adware, preferably without installing half a dozen adware-removal-softwares...

Edit 2: Since I most likely would have been asked to run Junkware Removal Tool, I did.. it deleted some registry keys, failed to delete a folder and its contents within my appdata folder, so I deleted that manually.. I then proceeded to change my browsers homepage/default search engine etc to Google, exited the browser and when I started the browser again, it had reverted back to Safe Search.

I've used jDownloader for years and loved it. However, its got the nastiest installer I've ever met - it highjacked my computer to the point of uselessness. I missed a step during the install on a new PC and had to re-install a previous image of my hard drive (luckily I'm paranoid about "free" software). Any attempt to justify having it there in the first place is like saying "I rent my spare room to a child molster, but I'll tell my neighbors IF THEY ASK!" Shame, shame, shame.

Actually, there's no mistake about it.

The latest Jdownload installer installs browser hijacker (and God knows what else) which opens some sweet-page.com website.

Although the latest installer looked kind of suspicious right from the start, I was afraid that someone was imitating JDownloader, didn't expect it to be an official thing.

Even all the antivirus and antispyware software I had on couldn't remove it.

After I managed to get my PC functional and I again reinstalled JDownloader and in the process got suspicious and took time to read, opted for advanced install hoping for an option to avoid malware...

No, way out.

Managed to grab all the malicious bits out of it during the install (hope so) but this leaves a really bad aftertaste.

I got into torrents because of this kind of crap and now I see I was right.

I'll probably use JDownloader occasionally to grab a video or a link here and there but this was really a low blow.

It's one thing to stop making free versions of software when you can't afford to give it away and go premium all the way but selling out people who used your software just because they were so desperate that they didn't have other options is kind of low.

Best regards and I hope somebody in charge of this project grows some balls to apologize to everyone and stop this exploitation trend.

There will be paid versions in the future but first we have to have a stable version as it makes no sense to sell unfinished software.
Thanks for your feedback - but still, you can untick/skip the adware while installing

Then you should find an alternative way to finance the experimental versions of your software.

Ads are fine but malware can only do damage to your reputation, really.

No matter how much someone pays you to do this is not worth unless you're planning to kill the project.

And no, installing malware is not optional as you can see for yourself if you download the latest version of JDownloader.

If you keep lying about it, I'll make an installation video and post it here.

Or, maybe, it's a better idea to post it on social networks to warn the public.

Freedom of speech, right

About the optional malware:
It is optional.
Its just a bit hidden - sometimes you have to hit "decline" or "skip" and not simply untick options and no, we're not the only ones doing this.
...and as said before, we're there to help you in case there are problems installing potentially unwanted software which you might have installed during the JD installation.

Make your video and I can show you exactly where the skip options are - also, if you read the text in the installer (even if you do NOT read the TOS, as no one does this), you'll see that you accept to install 3rd party applications!

well, seem you cant live without adware (no until paid version)

Most people are used to just click "next"

Can you talk with your ads or installer provider to ALL ads at jdownloader installer work at the same way?

I don't think we can.
Installers are different from programm to programm so our installer is basically nothing new.

Default seriously disappointed, don't install this crap

Wtf?
The installer did not ask me before installing this adware at all.
It's impossible to remove it, because uninstall does not work. I have to manually remove it. It causes my computer to freeze up.
I am seriously disappointed with you guys, so a big fu to all of you for being parasites,
by the way Jdownloader 1 was a good product Jdownloader 2 really sucks. Why did you have to rewrite it. You should think about becoming a respectable company instead of pieces of shit.

Also please read the previous posts (of our team).
We already explained everything - this topic is done!

EDIT

And by the way, JD2 is not a rewrite of JD1 - its the outcome of the continued JD1 development!

Default Adware.InstallCore.489 detected?

Hello.
My Antivirus (DrWeb) detects Adware.InstallCore.489 in latest Jdownloader 2 beta update. Is it false alarm (and i should report it to DrWeb developers) or this adware is now part of Jdownloder?

edit: This message is about JD2, and should be moved to corresponding forum. Sorry, did not see it before posting.

Thank you for quick response.

I've downloaded windows installer form your link, but there still seems to be a problem. But now not immediately, but in installation progress. Here is error screenshot **External links are only visible to Support Staff****External links are only visible to Support Staff**
This happens right after antivirus deletes JDownloader2.exe.

Default Unchecky

Download and install Unchecky. A safe source is majorgeeks.com. It will stop and/or unselect the garbage offers that comes with most software.

Unchecking all of the boxes during a recent Jdownloader 2 install didn't stop installation of scumware

There are also sections of the installer where there is nothing to unselect - you have to click "skip" instead...

just now download and install jdownloader 2 for Winnx64

Only 2 adwares and both with "Decline" option
