I've noticed something seems to have started happening in the last week. It used to be, you could set the download path for the "Various Files" default package that is created by the link browser, and all new files would still get added to this package. Now, if you change the download path, it appears to create a new package one the next link. is this an intentional change? Is it possible to go back to the old way?

I used to set the download path, and copy a bunch of links, and then just rename the package. This kept me from forgetting to update the download folder later, and having everything go into the default folder.

I really don't know about this particular behavior before the changes but maybe try using the packagizer to set the downloadpath for "Various" package then all candidates for 'various 'might also go into that one package.

far as I know various never had specific sub directory, though it would if default rule subdirectory as packagename was enabled, but so would all other packages.

Can you describe what exactly you are doing?
How do you add the links? Clipboard/AddLink Dialog?
How do you change the folder? Rightclick Menu, within table, or via property window at the bottom
Do you change/set a comment? This changed?
Changing name of package removes the *various* flag. Same happens when changing comment.

I add links typically by copying them to the clipboard and allow the clipboard monitor to pick them up. In the past, as long as I didn't change the package name from "Various Files", I could change other properties, specifically the download path, and new files would continue being added to the "Various Files" package. Once I was done, I would rename the package.

Now, it seems like if I change the download path, new URLs picked up from the clipboard will create a new "Various Files", even if the first one is still present, and begin adding to that.

So flow-wise, the old way I would do something like this:
1) Copy link to clip board; creates initial "Various Files" package.
2) Change download path of "Various Files" Package.
3) Copy remaining links, which continue being added to "Various Files".
4) Rename "Various Files" to something else.

Now, it seems like this happens:
1) Copy link to clip board; creates initial "Various Files" package.
2) Change download path of "Various Files" Package. Nothing looks different at this point.
3) Copy another link. JD2 will now create a new "Various Files" package, and any new links end up going here - this is the change I'd like to go back to the old way where things continue going into the original package until the package name is changed.

Here's a screenshot that kind shows what I'm talking about. So I did the procedure exactly as I mentioned. Copied the link for "file 1", changed the "Save To" path, and then copied another link. Previously, both links would be in the same "Various Files" package. Now, changing the "Save To" path caused a new package to be created when I copied the link for "file 2". The package properties for the second Various Files has the default Save To (in my case, X:\)

If I am infering correctly from what you are saying, what I'm seeing is that changing the "Save To:" path(which is the only thing I changed in my example) is now also removing that flag. Assuming that the flag controls creation of a new "Various Files" package.
