Default Resume download from other server

Hi.

I downloaded about 60-70% of file from Rapidshare. Then I needed to quit jD. Is there a way to make jD to continue the same file, but from a different server (with resumable downloads) - like MegaUpload/FileServe...?

No, this will work with the downloadsystem 2.0 but this still has to be developed first^^

Even with Downloadsystem 2.0, it won't work very often, unless the uploader is using a multi-host upload tool. The files you download from have to be exactly the same to continue the download and not just create a trash file.

The exception is if there are some extra (meaningless) bytes tacked onto the end of one of the files.
Some hosts (such as uGotFile) modify your uploaded file under certain circumstances, so they cannot be used to continue a download.

I'm well aware of that.

In fact, my original intention was just to switch from non-resumable server to resumable (e.g. continue). Why would I download ~300MB (from 400) of the same data...

Any idea when we could expect such system to be available?

@fma16
No, if so, then this feature will come AFTER 1.0, 1.0 won't contain the new downloadsystem.

While by now most hosts support resuming downloads for freeloaders, the two most popular ones, RS and HF, don't. RS's decline continues and they'll soon lose their number one position. (Source: alexa.com)

Well but sadly, their tactic works.
Giving the freeusers less features results in more premiumusers = more $$

I agree with psp, they don't care about their freeusers traffic. They are expensive and don't give money (no ads on rapidshare). If the freeuser traffic decrease and the premium-user increase, they are happy!!!

Does somebody have some reliable numbers about the distribution of premium/free traffic from the top file hosts?
