I have 2 Jdownloaders in my computer, if I put the JDownloaderNIGHTLY.exe in the folder of one of them only the program in that folder will be updated to NIGHTLY?

I could use both versions if that is the case.

I think it's because JD and JD Nightly are in seperate folders.
If you want your normal JD to change to Nightly, you'll have to put it in the same directory and start the Nightly exe, it will then update.

My Jdownloader started to freezes and crashs since three days. So I updated Java today, but still got the same troubles.
For me, the crashes mainly occured when I reduce JDownloader in the systray and open it again.

I have :
Win XP SP3
Java Version: 1.6.0_22 (I had _21 yesterday)
AVG antivirus 9.0.872
no firewall (except the one in my router)

It's seems working with the current JDownloader -NIGHTLY- Build 13096.
(but the link for switching versions is still broken )

The link in page 5 post #90 is correct:
Code:
http://board.jdownloader.org/showpost.php?p=23229&postcount=33
Basically contain: java -jar jdupdate.jar -branch NIGHTLY

Really thanks for this program. Only a little doubt: I ran too much and wrote the dangerous xml file of the first page, and deleted it some seconds after when I read the Jiaz post. Is this enough to clean the mess? Thanks very much again.

The crossdomain.xml file is just a data file specifying access rights. If you remove it, its effects are gone.

The Nightly is our current DeveloperVersion, that will become our next Stable version in future. It's currently used by around 14k users.

PLEASE DO AN MANUAL BACKUP FIRST. BACKUP YOUR CONFIG FOLDER IN JD, SO YOU CAN RESTORE IT IN CASE SOMETHING FAILS. JUST BACKUP FOR THE WORST CASE

In order to upgrade to nightly edition you can use 2 methods
1.) download http://update0.jdownloader.org/JDownloaderNIGHTLY.exe into your jd folder
1.1.) close jd and start JDownloaderNIGHTLY.exe once (it will change version and upgrade jd)
1.2.) after update you are running nightly edition (also automatic updates)
1.3.) megaupload should work fine and no longer freeze the gui

2.) instead of downloading the JDownloaderNIGHTLY.exe , you can read here how to switch versions

This issue has been happening for the past day or two and I don't think any settings relevant to Jdownloader has changed. The JDownloader would start downloading but then the download and sometimes the whole client will freeze up. I can't even close JDownloader through task manager.

My OS is Windows 7, I'm using the built-in firewall, my antivirus is Eset Nod32, and I'm using the latest JDownloader.

I couldn't upload the log through the forum's attachment, so I'm sending it through pastebin.

@hwoarang5

You're using JRE version: 6.0_18-b07. I don't need to look further. This is a very buggy version of java. Take JRE 6 update 21.

Default Fixing Hangs and Crashes in JDownloader.

This procedure fixes almost all Hangs and Crashes in JDownloader and provides a way to submit a log if JD Hangs or Crashes.

1) Make sure all JDownloader or other Java programs are closed (use Task Manager or Process Explorer).

1a) Uninstall Java (both 32 and 64 bit).
1b) If you are using W. Vista or later, follow the instructions in General Discussion -> Required Patch to make sure the Windows Filter Platform bugs are patched.
1c) Restart your computer.

2) Read General Discussion -> Self Help Index -> Choosing and installing security software. Make sure your firewall and antivirus meet the requirements stated at the top of the document. Otherwise, download the recommended programs, uninstall all of your security software, restart your computer, install the recommended programs, and restart your computer again.

2a) Do not use an integrated computer security system. They are always bloated and add an unnecessary load to your computer. The programs that are recommended provide better security than almost all packages on the market. These programs are free for personal use.

3) Install Java JRE 6 update 21. Install the 64 bit first and install the 32 bit update second. These can be found by starting at **External links are only visible to Support Staff**
4) Install JDownloader into a new directory (such as c:\programs\jdownloader).

5) Upgrade to Nightly correctly. On a command line (or in a batch script), execute the following two statements:
Code:
cd /d <your JDownloader directory>
java -Dsun.java2d.ddscale=true-Xmx512m -jar jdupdate.jar -branch NIGHTLY
5a) The -D parameter tells Java not to use 3D features on your graphics adapter.

5b) The -X parameter tells Java to limit its memory use to the Java Runtime plus 512MiB of memory.

5c) If you have a linklist you want to save in your old copy of JDownloader, find a recent zip file in the old JDownloader\backup directory and extract the files to overwrite the files in the new JDownloader\config directory.

6) Use the following batch file to start JDownloader in a crash/hang resistant mode (if it crashes or hangs, the log is saved to disk):
Code:
cd /d <your JDownloader directory>
java -Dsun.java2d.ddscale=true -Xmx512m -verbose -jar jdownloader.jar -debug -brdebug > javalog.txt 2> jdlog.txt
7) If a problem occurs:
7a) Post a message containing the information requested in General Bugreport -> rules. Leave out the log (it is not available).

7b) Create an archive (RAR or ZIP) from the javalog.txt, jdlog.txt, and any hs_err*.log files in your JDownloader directory. Attach the archive to the message (Go Advanced -> Manage Attachments).

------------------------

If you are using OS-X, leave out the "-Xmx512m" in the command lines.

Default what i did

I tried to "unistall" my current java 22. Uh, big mistake. For when I tried to install the JE 21, I got an
" internal Error: 2753 Regutils.dll " Real nice. So, I reinstalled the newest java, just to keep from spending the next week of my life, trying to undo, what someone suggested, and it took! Then when I opened jd, and it took an update. For over 1 hr, it has been finishing downloading MU files, that had previously only 1/2 @ssed finished, prior to this freezing up. So, perhaps it just needed java removed, then installed to the newest version. (reloaded) Dunno. Would highly recommend to have a version of java on desktop, ready to install, "if" you go removing it. At least create a restore point, if using XP. (that is, if it actually worked...)

Then when I opened jd, and it took an update. For over 1 hr, it has been finishing downloading MU files, that had previously only 1/2 @assed finished, prior to this freezing up. So, perhaps it just needed java removed, then installed to the newest version. (reloaded) Dunno. Would highly recommend to have a version of java on desktop, ready to install, "if" you go removing it. At least create a restore point, if using XP. (that is, if it actually worked...)
ok, that was short lived...froze up again. Realized I had to installed 21, then uninstall 22. Running now for about 45 min's. If this don't work, guess I'll wait for a newer release of JD. Thx...
PS. y the foreign language posts in the english section?

AMD AM2 4 gigs ram
Windows XP Pro SP3
Java 6 Version 22

Read this thread after having problems with Jdownloader just not responding after being minimized. When I tried to restore it, an invisible predator cloaked window would pop up and you could see right through it.

No response to attempting to close or exit from tray, only task manager could shut it down. Explorer itself would reload itself and the icons in the task bar.

Before the last update, sometimes when I would minimize it would do what I mentioned above but the tray icon would still partially work and sometimes the program would recover and eventually start working again.

Switched to the Nightly version and this version runs fantastic. Better GUI feel, and overall performance is much better. Makes the standard version feel very bloated and unstable (at least on my system). Its very responsive and works fantastic. Has not crashed yet.

Woke up this morning and found it froze again. Something I have noticed throughout each freezing...and is constant...is the the speed is always frozen at 164 kb's. I have my speed set at 0, which I assume that just let's it take, whatever speed it can achieve. I'm lowered this manually to 140 and has now been running for over 1 hour. I'll minimize this and keep in tray. Will post back with findings.

If this would be true then why isn't the Stable version being replaced by the Nightly test version? If it would be true then a new test version for conducting experiments could be created.

I have the very same problem, BUT, if I let JD frozen, it still keeps downloading files (I can see my USB wireless adpater/stick LED "blinking") and after several minutes it unfreezes itself. Then, I see one of the files shows a problem (JD shows as "Connection lost" and JD NIGHTLY shows as "Network problems"). This happens to specific files and if I try to download them, manually, using FireFox and my MU premium acc, I get very low speed (I got 2MB internet connection, so max DL is 240kb/s and low speed equals 70kb/s or less), usually less than 30kb/s. It seems to be a problem with MU itself and not JD, but the thing is, wether the download stops at a certain point or I let JD resume it until it eventually get 100% DLed, I end up with a corrupt file.

The current file giving me this problem is: **External links are only visible to Support Staff****External links are only visible to Support Staff**

I have Win 7 x64 fully updated , java fully updated, Avira AV, Win Firewall on and JD updated (both "normal" and nightly versions).

I also have tried the "Reset" option. Nothing changes.

you can easy switch to normal back with
java -Xmx512m -jar jdupdate.jar -branch RESET

close jd before doing that

i would suggest to use nightly as its more up2date and less ressource hunger (cpu/ram) and more features and..and ... and...

we can only hope that mu will fix those server issues soon.

I find the Normal version easier on the eye but if it uses less resources (and is more up to date) I guess I'll stick with it.

Jiaz, I'm kind of paranoid when it comes to privacy, so I'd like to know if I can edit both my posts and remove the logfile (spoiler) only. Since it seems to be a MU servers problem, I guess there's no reason for that, right? Also, I have it in a .txt, so, if needed, I can post it back again.

sure you can remove the log.
on the eye? what you mean?
both versions should be near 100% identical. no real changes are made!?

Font looks different on Nightly. It's either a different one or it's the same but bigger; like if it was a person it'd be tall and thin instead of the "normal" average joe. Icons are the same size, though (and looks the same). Also, I find it easier to spot KB/MB/GB instead of KiB/MiB/GiB, although I could get used to it. But the font thing... it looks like I went from 1600x1200 to 800x600 (some exageration, just to get the idea).

Default Jdownloader Nightly

Ok so ever since the freezing up thing I found this forum which I had no Idea existed but thank goodness I'm not the only one with this problem. I love Jdownloader and will probably be using it forever. Since there isn't a fix for the freezing up yet, I am now using jdownload nightly, which works great. So here is my problem, on the regular jdownloader I am downloading at 1.5 mb/s before it starts to freeze on certain MU files, but with the nightly version my max download speed is 450 mb/s at most. Is there any way to speed up the Nightly version? I don't really care if there isn't but I would love it if there is a way to configure my DL speed.

You could increase Max. conections per file. I'm not sure if it works with free accs. If you have premium acc, just increase Max. con. and max. downloads until you reach your max bandwidth. By the way, I was going to mention a similar thing. With normal version I had an almost constant speed (240KB/s), with nightly I have many ups and downs. The speed meter used to show an almost perfect flat line but with nightly version it looks like those equalizer graphics from music players. I don't know if average DL speed went a little bit down (I was going to suggest a "statistics" feature, like in Mipony -- it's ok to mention it, right?). I'm leaving Nightly for some time. If I don't "feel" a change in speed, then I'll stick with it.

the speedmeter of nightly is much more accurate , thats why you see the up/downs. the old one did more aggressive average.

jdownloader downloads as fast as possible. if you have speed issues then read remi's post about that topic.

Okay so you're saying it's always been at that speed, just that Jdownloader show different speeds? If this is the case then I guess I have no issues with Nightly as up right now. I even went back to the file that JDownloader was freezing on then tried it on Nightly and it worked just fine. Thanks for all the useful infos.

Update: Ok I quit Nightly then reopened it and now everything is up to speed, so noooo problems.

followed all instructions on switching to the Nightly Version, but now jd doesn't load properly - the javaw.exe process becomes active, but jdownloader doesnt appear.

I was looking forward to using the nightly version

all u need to do is download the nightly exe from the first page and put it in the folder, C:/program files/jdownloader or where you put it on your comp. Then click on the downloaded exe and let it update. Atleast that's what I did and it worked fine for me.

I read through most of the pages before making the conclusion to try what Jiaz posted as a solution and did the Nightly update:

It works great, have no complaints about it. Its the best running version of Jdownloader I have used to date. MU has been loading/running without a hitch for days now.

I swiched JD's skin to Windows theme and turned off Aero and I haven't froze yet.
(not on nightly build)

(I ran with console though, and I'm getting "PreDupeChecked: no mirror found!" every few minutes.)

Vista 64, java 1.6

I'm sorry but I think the problem is in JD because it doesn't happen when I use Flashget or Firefox's built-in downloader.
