Linkgrabber list backups, important
Hi there, I had to revamp and recover my drive to factory condition, and I had the entire JDownloader folder saved somewhere else. I've already tried copying all the "cfg" folder to the new installation before I opened JDownloader the first time, but it looks like it ate up all the linkcollector.XXXXX.zip.backup files and left the list blank. So then I tried to add them through the add link container option, and it does the same thing. Is there a secret to this, lol? I even tried renaming the backups to be named with "backup" in the filenames, and still didin't work.

Most likely your JDownloader/Java runs out of memory during import of the large lists!
Remove JDownloader and install again with https://jdownloader.org/jdownloader2 and use a 64bit installer. You can copy/backup the complete cfg folder before and restore/copy back(not merge but replace) it to keep lists/settings/accounts. In case this doesn't help, please report back

Question, when you import lists from within JDownloader, does it only add non-duplicates to the linkgrabber and/or download lists ?

The list will simply get added without duplicate-check.
Do you need a duplicate check for that? -psp-

It would certainly help, yeah, cuz every time I have to switch laptops (my new MSI I bought last May gave out last month, so I'm on a 2013 HP laptop), I use the list I had for the next system I have to use. So with several different incarnations of it, duplicate check would help. But how though ?

1. How often do you switch laptops?
Why don't you just start with an empty JD and only copy over the whole list of JD A to JD B? What's the reason for you to merge two lists? ... or are you switching between two devices and are adding URLs to either one of them? 2. At this moment there is no official way. You could write an EventScripter script though. -psp- EDIT I've created a ticket for you:

Because it seems like every few months there's a situation whereby I have to switch to a different computer due to some kind of troubles, I guess I'm unlucky. I was using a 2005 laptop for a few weeks before I got my 2013 HP laptop working, and now I've order a Lenovo Y740-17IRHg and so I've got like 3 lists, including from the MSI laptop that stopped working a month ago that started all this madness.
But even if the merge didn't check for duplicates, is there a way to remove duplicates within JDownloader (whether you merge or not) ? |

From the initial MSI, I tried transferring the full list to my next laptop I had to use, but it would only transfer the download list, not the linkgrabber. Now, grant it, I was just moving the list files themselves, not the whole folder. What other files are needed to make the list files work ?

Basically it seems like what you want is to use JD on two devices and the way you're attempting to do so at this moment is troublesome. JD is portable and doesn't require a "real" installation. You can put JD on a USB stick and use it from there so you won't have to cope with two different states of configs. Do not merge two different cfg folders - only replace the old one with the new one completely! -psp-
