For no known reason, JD has stopped unarchiving archives. It will still merge files (.001, .002, .003, etc.), but anything with a part1.rar, part2.rar, etc. produces an

Extract: failed (CRC in [filename])

for the part1s, and "Extract failed" for the rest of the parts.

Now, I can use either The Unarchiver or RAR Expander successfully on ALL of these. And JD used to work (might have been before the current 0.6.193). Note that I did do some OS 10.5.7 updates in the past month, but just bringing the machine up-to-date. I took the "Java for Mac OS X 10.5 Update 4" on 26 June, but it was failing before that. I had a Safari 4.0.1 update on the same day, but I don't expect that to be a cause.

However, Safari 4.0 came in on 14 June, and that was about the date things got weird IIRC. Then there were the misc. iLife updates on 6 June, including QuickTime 7.6.2.

Note that restarting JD does not help--the failures occur early and often.

According to System Profiler, JavaVM is 12.3.0. This is a MacPro 8x2.8GHz with 6GB RAM.
