I solved my problem by doing this; Go to File>Restore JD.
I don't know but it seems ok for now. Before backup your download list

I have just downloaded and begun using jd (just had to as those are my initials) after using Speed Download for quite some time but running into problems connecting to uploading.com

I am using a Mac Pro with Snow Leopard and regularly getting "No permissions to write to hard disk". Nearly all of the time it is within 1Mb of completion according to the Progress bar.

I am using 1 max connection and 5 max downloads. It occurs with downloads from rs, hotfile and uploading. I have premium accounts with each.

I have never needed to abort and reset. Using Enable then Resume then Force download usually get it going to completion - but very slowly (typically 2-5 KB/s. Once I had to restart the app to get a download going again - it insisted it was Connecting but went nowhere.

I don't have never had any other issues with the computer and have never seen this error with Speed Download.

Hope this may help with diagnosis.

Otherwise I really like the app - my thanks to the developers....!

What's your JRE (java) and jD version? Are you ising any security software (virus, firewall)?

You're sure the accounts are correct? You can remove and create them again to be sure they're properly configured.

If that doesn't help, please provide a detailed log. It might help the devs to find the problem.

The Log Level was set to ALL but the logfile is empty....

Today, downloading is smooth with no permissions errors. Don't know what changed. Did not reboot.
Only 1 error - Plugin Error(out of date). Resume and Force Download got it going again.

If you followed the recommendation in my post #87 of this thread then you probably have too many open connections.

Reduce your number of connections (Max.Con.) to 1 or 2.

Hello im having the same problem too, i´m using the latest version of JDownloader for about a week now, today the program just went crazy.

The downloads show "connecting" and takes a long time to start, and when it does they are very slow, this is with Rapidshare files.

With Megaupload files its the same as above but many parts of the files stop downloading with messages like "Iddle no permissions to write to hard disk" or "Aborted no permissions to write to hard disk".

Then all of a sudden they start again with good speed but just for some minutes.

I know that a lot of people say that this could be a firewall and/or anti-virus problem, but i don´t think so, i am using JDownloader for about 1 week and only today the program start with this problem, besides and don´t have the Link Scanner feature of AVG installed.

And i also tried all these solutions:
- use less chunks (set Max.Con. to 1 or 2)
- allow java.exe, javaw.exe and jDownloader in your firewall
- unstable internet connection, contact you ISP
- reboot PC
- un-install/re-install firewall
- un-install/re-install virus scanner
- torrent client using too many connections
- un-install JRE (java) and re-install latest JRE version.

But i´m using JDownloader for about a week now and just tiday the problems started.

Is there any way to deactivate AVG without uninstalling ? I don´t want to change the anti-virus.

remove it and reboot and test again, that way you can find out if its avg or not.
if yes, then you can install again and try different modules/settings in avg or write their support

Today the program is working just fine, maybe it as an update in AVG that screwed up JDownloader, i received a new one and now JDownloader is working without any problems.

Just for the record, i don´t have the LinkScanner feature of AVG installed, the only thing that i did was to put java.exe and javaw.exe in the exclusions list of the Resident Shield.

I don´t know if that helped or not, but i think not, like i said i think it was an update in AVG.

max connections and max downloads set to 1
windows firewall disabled
space available on hard drive 1.5GB trying to download files < 100MB
happened to me with rapidshare, megaupload, mediafire, storage, all the servers I´ve tried

I am getting the "No permission to write to hard disk" nightly and on a minimum of 2 downloads in each "pack of links". Each pack of links contains at least 50 200MB files. When I wake up I just right click the archive pack and click Enable (2) and then have them complete downloading. I couldn't care less but it's highly inconvenient to not be able to use the computer when it finally unrar's in the morning when it could've done it overnight.

My chunks are at 2.

I COMPLETELY DISABLED my windows firewall.

I have NO OTHER FIREWALL and NO ANTIVIRUS INSTALLED.

It seems like I have the perfect set-up to not experience this problem yet I'm still getting it. BTW I download only from Rapidshare.com.

Please guys find a solution, this has been happening to me for at least 3 months now every night.

I have the same problem on Ubuntu Lucid linux.
Downloads/connections set to 1 each.
Problem happens on rapidshare, megaupload, etc.
Yes, I'm running a bittorrent program, but jdownloader previously didn't exhibit this problem with simultaneous torrent downloads.
Problem has shown itself with 2 different routers (actually ADSL Gateways).
Currently running Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.6.0_19-b04), though problem existed with OpenJDK as well.
No firewall installed.
No virus scanner installed.

You're using JRE 1.6.0_19-b04. Remove it and install JRE version 6.0_17 ("**External links are only visible to Support Staff**). I don't know for sure the last version of the JRE is the cause, but I want to be sure. JRE 1.6.0_18 certainly contains bugs.

You might have the wrong JRE version as well. Please, read my previous post in this thread.

OK, I did have a version lower than the latest by like 5 updates, so I updated it like 3 days ago. Yesterday night same problem happened again, it seems JRE version does not affect the issue.

But this time, the error message is just [Aborted], nothing about no permission to write to the disk. Maybe that's a different problem altogether?

After reading all symptoms and logs I think I will note everyone's wish for developers to enable silent enabling+start of every download item (cycled, in accordance with prioritization).

It must work silently unless the downloaded item was deleted when the ping to the host is okay.

Doing manual reset or re-enable and start is REALLY ANNOYING behavior completely NON-user friendly. Many simpler programs (ex. USDownloader) has fixed this years ago.

I don't understand why developers missing this point.

Otherwise, have a setting of retries for this reenabling+restart. I will set it to hundreds thousands and forget it.

Obviously, current release algorithm faultly disables the download after some conditions but it MUST continue to try. This is not the case now.

PLEASE add this to JDownloader !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi folks,
All of my issues have been fixed when I moved to ADSL internet a few days ago. I was using Cable before. Must've been something wrong in the pipelining. I don't know.

Anyway the downloads don't abort themselves overnight anymore and I don't have to enable them again and wait for the extraction in the morning. Yay!

By the way, I changed nothing in my computer or jdownloader, just the internet. I hope it helps someone.:thumbup:

I have the same problem with the same error. Mine only occurs with deposit files and the files are not complete when it happens. The renaming option does not apply. I do not have this problem with rapidshare (premium) mega, hotfile (premium) nor upload, x7, sharing etc. I turned off my virus, (kapersky) as I was having files hang up before they finished, and then this problem arose. I restarted the incomplete files manually with windows 7 firewall off and have not had a problem finishing the files. I will try some new entrys to insure it is the firewall issue, then search for the proper exceptions to make it work. J

I read the entire 6 pages of this post and had tried most of what has been recommended before I tried what I did and reported in my post. I tried the kapersky recommendation you just re referenced again and it still gave me the same error. Turning off kapersky relieved the error.

All I have is AVG Free and windows 7 firewall. First the file says Limit Reached wait (certain amount of time) then I get the no permission to write error.

But after that it starts downloading the next file just fine. How come it didn't say Limit Reached etc. they are both from megaupload.

BTW, no matter how many times I restart or reset the suspect file once it reaches 5.88mb the file stops downloading and freezes at 5.88mb then I get the error no permission to write to harddisk.

Now if I lose internet connection (because I am on a wireless network it happens sometimes with the ISP) during a download I get a "fatal error". So I know it isn't connection problems cause the other files download fine from the same host. Just this one is happening to have the problem.

Hey guys I had the same problem and I got it solved by just creating a new folder on the harddisk I wanted to download the files to. I'm a bit noob in all of this, but my guess is that windows needs you to give it permission to write on the C disk directly and jdownloader just denies it instead of asking you. As I said before, just clicked on "edit directory", "new folder" (in my case movies) and the download started without any problems. I hope that this helped :S

Usually the interrupts from what i understand caused in java are due to third party calls that have too much wait time or files seem to be corrupted such as log files or input/output files usually associated with disk IO errors.

I may be wrong here but you may wish to run disk utility tools to ensure the disk(s) are totally healthy.

If you would read this thread from beginning to end you would find lots of suggestions and recommendations. Please, do that first and provide a log if you can't seem to find the cause of your problems.

A possible cause is when some other thread gets 100% CPU for a time, and Java cant run (flash stuff on webpages can easily make this happen, the browser is usually high priority when active).

Probably try raising Java-s prioroity?

And yes, I have this problem also.

My data:
- Linux Ubuntu 8.04 up to date.
- JDownloader 0.9.580, updated yesterday.
- No firewall, no antivirus, no bittorrents nor other downloading programs.
- Max.Con set to 1.
- Bandwidth is around 1MiB.
- I connect from a university, behind linux servers. It is usually a nice network, with some bad days from time to time, but I've been using JD since 2009 and this week has been the first time I've got this "no permissions to write" error.

Of course, there is plenty of space in my HD (20 GB) and JD has permissions to write in the download folder (and it does, but not till the end).



When gathering the next log, I had two parts of a file (1000 MB and 188 MB) from fileserve.com that had failed to download during last night (having already downloaded 600 MB and 20 MB respectively). Then I re-enabled and resumed the downloads, several times and there we go:

If I reset the downloads and lose the already downloaded data I can't manage to download the files since they get aborted every few seconds or minuts. Without reseting, just reenabling and reconecting, I have to be sticked to my computer to type reCAPTHAS every ten minutes with the hope to download a few megabytes each try.

I hope there will be a way to solve this reasuming/reconecting/whatever issue
that is being such a pain...
