Default UK users - ORON blocked by IWF 02 / BE

Looks like Oron has been blocked by the IWF proxy at least under 02 BE in the UK,

I'm getting fatal error under JD and "you have exceeded your limit" when trying with a browser.

For information for UK users.

Thanks.
Is there any known way to bypass this?

Sometimes there have been workarounds for some other hosts by putting an equivalent ip address number rather than the usual .com url in the browser, but I don't know of one for oron.

I'm currently using this to check when I have a hoster problem

I know it's not to do with JD but I wouldn't call it "solved" - just ongoing and likely to to be resolved eventually for that particular host - just as some other external, hoster issues have been.

Ok for now at least the old workaround for Oron now seems to work when used manually in a browser
but JD still can't download and keeps saysing "disconnect Wait 5 mins" or so and keeps doing that wthout ever geting further.
Placing this in the hosts file allows browser download manually.

It would be really good if JD could handle Oron automatically given this workaround

you must also include oron.com as jd uses oron.com and not **External links are only visible to Support Staff**www.oron.com

Yes , Oron.com is also in the example I pasted.
Should I include api.oron.com as suggested with Filesonic?

Nice, thanks! I've been having trouble with Oron for some time now (slow applaud for the IWF).

Workaround: If this is a DNS block, i.e. Oron via IP-adress works, you can
a) enter the Ip-Adress in your Windows hosts file (google) and see if this works (did you already try, it's not clear to me)

if not, you could also
b) use "Fiddler" as a pre-proxy. It has the option of resolving Hosts before the ISP.. Just enter the Oron-Host and IP-Adress in "Tools -> Hosts" and configure Jdownloader to use Fiddler as a proxy...

You could also use OpenDns, maybe this works for you...

I feel sorry for U, blocking OneClick hoster is just illegitimate!!

It's not the people who make the laws. It's the power elites that make them and if it's in their interest to censor the web they'll certainly do it. They'll use any reason (including CP) to attain their objectives, i.e., stay in power or increase their power.

Its a little more complicated than just a DNS resolve but EU proposals could mean a similar feature for everyone inside the EU.

Yeah, we had this approach two years ago in Germany, but governmental change, broad protests and constitutional problems prevented this law... thank god.
It was only about childpornography but once the infrastructure is there....you never know..

Don't think it will stop their greed for more power. The Euroviet Union Constitution was also adopted despite its massive rejection in the countries that dared to organise a 'democratic' referendum about that totalitarian law.

In the article referred to by shadowdogg I read :-

Quote:
illicit content can be stopped if it violates EU norms
What norms are they referring to? Every power elite is amoral and doesn't have any norms nor values. Only their propaganda instruments speak about values. Hitler and Stalin would be really happy to see how much power they would be able to get today.

Some naive people might think that it will be possible to use technical means to circumvent these censoring filters, but they forget that this scheme will be rolled out world wide and nobody will be be able to escape from it, except the power elites themselves.

This is NOT about CP but about power and the means of controlling free speech that might lead to some form of primitive democracy.

as long uk isp's use the iwf filterlist, you might encounter issues while using oron. we cannot tell if the filter is active or how long or such stuff. only iwf themselves do know that

Oron wants you to PAY to use their service and not use a program like JD.
