Please solve the issue that the youtube file size shown on JD2 is reduced suddenly after starting download, and the complete % reaches more than 100% during the download for every file.
some of the youtube files still in downloading status for a long time without reach an end.

Yeah this new bug that when you start downloading some file on Youtube the "Size" suddenly goes to some low number is kinda annoying.... yeah it doesn't really affect the end file size (like the actual file you download/merge when the download is over) but it was always nice to see the actual size and not some little number and the Progress % growing to the 700-900% due to it lol

It started maybe in the last few updates weirdly... was fine before.

For those who are not aware. JD is still capable of downloading a full Youtube video. It is JD that is showing a small filesize and making the download percentage go off the rails. Also, all videos are affected by this bug.

Yes exactly. i tried to mention/clarify that in my reply... it's mostly just a 'Visual bug' but it's annoying because sometimes if u put a few videos to 'download later' by disabling them and having them in ur jdownloader list/Downloads... and if the uploader of those videos edit them and they somehow 'change size' (usually lower due to cutting something from a specific video but sometimes bigger) then i liked it that when i re-started the video it would show me the 'current size' when starting to download it. and with the bug that's kinda 'gone'

Anyways, thanks Jiaz for the update i was sure it won't be a major thing and u guys will fix it

It does not download from youtube (it had always done so, but it hasn't been for a few weeks) 99% of the links remain in "initialization" and do not download. Sometimes it changes to "Downloading" but does not download, it stays at 0

Example link: **External links are only visible to Support Staff****External links are only visible to Support Staff**

But it happens to me with the vast majority (if not all)

@Pasamanko: due to unknown reason your computer fails to connect to the servers
0:rr6---sn-h5nhv8pa-n89s.googlevideo.com/212.230.193.145
It's always the same error. Maybe try a different IP/VPN/proxy?

Okay. I have tried with different DNS (and it is still the same), and the IP cannot be changed by my internet operator. I will try a VPN.

Thanks

Thanks for everything ^_^ I'll have to wait for the IP to change itself (My internet operator doesn't change it even if I ask them to)

Default Just get the Name and ID of a Channel?

I have lots of YouTube channel URLs that I need to get the Channel Name and Channel ID only.

I thought of having the YouTube plugin just to get the thumbnails and save them in this file name format: *CHANNEL*-*CHANNEL_ID*.*EXT*

But this would take a long time for crawling every channel's video, Is it possible to just let it crawl 1 video from each channel?

Or perhaps there's a better way to do this task?

@HughJazz: do you have channel urls or video urls? with video urls you could customize the filename to include the wished information. with channel urls it's currently not possible to limit to 1 entry.

I gave JDownloader a channel link, but it found only 98 videos, there should be more. Is this on my side or do more people have this problem? At the moment I'm thinking of copying every link individually after scrolling to the bottom.

Tengo el mismo problema, o similar. Quiero descargar una lista de mas de 300 videos pero solo me captura los primeros 100 enlaces. Alguien sabe como solucionarlo?

@AnotherNetizen:
@Walteers:
Known issue with broken pagination. JDownloader doesn't *see* the next pages.
As a workaround you can use https://support.jdownloader.org/Know...orted-websites or simply open the playlist/channel and then scroll down and select all the videos and copy to clipboard

in youtube I see different sizes for linked checked (in link adding tab) and in downloader finished size and the actual size on drive.
for example this youtube link (**External links are only visible to Support Staff****External links are only visible to Support Staff**)

which is 1080p vp9 version,

in link manager it says that the file size is 1.04GB
when I download it I see that the size for bytes loaded is 99.22MB
and the actual finished file on drive is 339.6MB.

what is going on?

I tested with the same video and even with 480p vp9 version the same happens and file size in downloader is shown as 330M and the after finishing bytes loaded is shown as exact same thing as 1080p (99.22M) and the actual finished file is 147.9M.

Unhappy youtube plugin stops at 63.15% host problem

dunno what is going on with the youtube plugin
I started it in 1080p 30fps mp4 (highest available)
it is a long podcast, 3+ hours... so i let it download
at 1MB/s max download speed while doing other things
on my computer...

when i check JD2 like an hour later i realized that it stopped
at exactly 63.15%, keeps giving me "host problem" and
trying to reconnect, if i force restart it manually it like goes back
to 62.55% and back to 63.15% then gives the same exact
"host problem" issue.... basicly seems impossible to complete download
and w'ont go over 63.15% (total filesize is 2.48GB) iv'e downloaded 1.57GB.

so iv'e checked it on youtube and everything is working fine over there i can go over 63.15%...maybe an encoding problem on theyre end at this specific
time? or to security measures ?

iv'e never had problem with smaller lengh videos...

Default YouTube account not marking downloaded files

Spent the day cleaning up all accounts in my account manager, YouTube included. Successfully have all appropriate accounts successfully logged in.

When downloading with YouTube videos, I expected (since it has my account) that any/all videos I pull with JDownloader2 that it would mark the videos as "watched" in my YouTube account. If I'm correct in this assumption, it doesn't seem to be working. If it is a feature that needs enabling, I wasn't able to find out how to do it. If this was never intended to work that way, what's the purpose of having my account logged in?

Thanks in advance.

Question How to change codec video conversion settings and can we put H265 one ?

Hello,

Just installed JDonwloader in order to download authorized videos on Youtube.
By default it convert them into 720p_30fps_H264-192kbit_AAC.

1/ How can I know what is the native format of the youtube video before the conversion ?

2/ How to change the default conversion video settings ? (for example to put 60fps instead of 30 ?)

3/ Same for song, can we put a better one than 192 kbit AAC ? Ideally flac ?

4/ Is there a way to integrate H265 or even better H266 into the choices of codec video conversion in JDownloader ?

Thank you so much

Your assumption is incorrect:
We never had this feature and we're not planning to add this feature.

You might find other open source download-tools in Github which have this feature.

@badalub
Please take a look at Settings -> Plugins -> youtube.com
This should answer some of your questions.

In generally we're downloading what is provided by YT.
If there is no flac available serverside it's impossible/doesn't make any sense to provide a flac option or convert lower quality audio to flac.

In the mentioned plugin settings for YT, you can select all codecs we are aware of.

Default How to integrate H265 or even H266 into the codec available to convert a video in JD?

Hello,
I am discovering JDownloader and love it !
My only concern is that is seems limitated to H264 codec and I would really need to use H265 (created in 2013) or ideally the recent H266.

Is that possible to integrate them into the list of choice of JDonwloader video conversion ? And if yes, how to do it step by step please ?

Thank you

@pspzockerscene thank you !

Instead of by default H264, is there a way to integrate H265 (published 2013) or even the better H266 into the video conversion option of JDownloader (published in 2020) ? And if yes how ?

No reason to post your question twice.
We're open source so if you wish to integrate this you can obtain our source code here:

Sorry I'm unable to answer that question.
If at all, other teammembers will answer it another day.

In the worst case you will have to switch to other download applications to get it...

I really appreciate what I see about JDownloader...
I am ok to help if needed for the integration of the H265 or H266 codec (but my knowledge of coding is very limitated...) So I can spend time and energy under the supervision of a coder in order to humbly improve JDownloader to get this really good improvment.

@badalub
Addendum:
I've asked another developer and here is the status:
JDownloader only lists formats/codecs which are available serverside by YT.
YT does not provide h265/266 - only av1.
Therefore it is not even technically possible to get such streams.

If you think I'm wrong, please provide a link to a YT video with h265/266.

Thanks for the links!

That doesn't mean that they will actually use/deliver it.
You can check the user codec in your browser like this:
Open any video and play it in your browser -> Rightclick -> Show statistics for nerds/curious people -> Detailed information about the stream will be displayed in the top left corner of that YT video.

Of course I could also be wrong.
I wasn't able to find a h265 stream yet nor was I able to find any other tools with the ability to download such streams from YT.

it may not be a jdownloader's issue.
I had some issue like this with a regular file download more than a decade ago.
it was my isp issue (no idea why but I explained it and they after some time fixed it).
if you have a vpn or proxy, use that to test the same file and see it that fixes anything.
if it does then I am right.
if i doesn't then it may be a jdownloader issue.
