Can't install [Win 7]
The web installer goes through it's thing, installs, gets to 100% and should make icons on the desktop and finish, launch program, and then nothing happens. The installer turns off and there's no icons on my desktop or quick launch menu, no folder under start button, no folder in C:\ Program Files. I repeated the process after telling the installer to 'run as administrator'. No change in behavior.
More info: After a HDD crash I just reinstalled Windows 7 OS. I downloaded the windows web installer, let it do it's thing and when nothing happened I remembered that it needs java and I hadn't installed it yet. I followed the link at the bottom of the download page and java installed jre7. I attempted installing again and still nothing happened at the end of the install. I read the jre 1.7 sticky on the board and attempted to uninstall the new one and install 1.6.45. It worked, I had an outdated version and attempted to install jdownloader again and still nothing happened. I have another computer running jdownloader with windows 7 that DOES NOT have java installed separately and has been working perfectly for months. I did the same thing, dl'ed web installer, ran, and it installed and runs perfectly. Both systems are nearly identical (this one is windows 7 professional, and the other is windows 7 home premium), the run the same antivirus and firewall settings and are even on the same router and network. I've uninstalled both java runtime environments for now and the only remnant I can find is a disabled extension for firefox that says 'Java Deployment Toolkit 7.0.250.17 10.25.2.17 [disabled]' I usually avoid doing anything that I have to turn my antivirus off for, but I took their advice and turned avast off for ten minutes and attempted another install. It still didn't work. It hung at 96% for a few minutes then jumped to 100% without actually installing any icons, folders or files. What am I doing wrong, or how can I fix this and get it installed properly? |

Hi,
Please, download the file JDownloader.jar here: _http://installer.jdownloader.org/JDownloader.jar Run the file .jar, in the path where you want to install JD2.

Thank you for the quick response, but it hasn't solved my woes just yet. Maybe I'm much more stupid than I ever imagined. Let's hope not.
You said "Run the file .jar, in the path where you want to install JD2" I downloaded, saving to the desktop then put it in my C:\Program Files where I think it should probably install to and double clicked and it asked me what program I want to use to run it. As I said in my original post I have no java right now. I uninstalled both jre1.6.45 and 1.7 in the coarse of trying to get this to work. Should I reinstall a jre, and which one will work with the file you posted for me, the out of date 6, or the newer 7? |

You need to install Java 1.7. JD2 was developed under Java 1.7 that's why you need the latest version.Download JD2 using the file JDownloader.jar works like JD2 a portable version.
Sorry to have omitted that detail, I was using my phone when I answered this thread. Edit: The web installer of JD2 have Java included, If you have the file JDownloader.jar in the installation dir of JD2, run it, and should work. Or look if you have the file JDownloader2update.exe, you can run it also. For the installation of JD2 the default path is C:\Users\USERNAMEl\AppData\Local\JDownloader v2.0\

I installed jre7, verified it was installed and double clicked on the .jar file you posted and two errors immediately popped up. I took screenshots for you.

Please, copy the file .jar in other path, for example: C:\JDownloader2
And try again. BTW, please check if your AV/FW is not blocking JDownloader.jar, Java.exe, Javaw.exe

I tentatively declare SUCCESS!!!!
Jdownloader2 is running, updated and already downloading a file. I give that two big thumbs up. I sent a shortcut of the .jar to the desktop (so I can find it again later) but had to find the icon in the JDownloader2\themes\standard\org\jdownloader\images\logo folder and change it in properties by browsing for it myself but otherwise it's working. I don't really like that it's not installed and I have to run it like a portable, but since I spent an entire day of frustration on this already, I'm gonna shut up and celebrate that it works at all. Yay! Thank you. |

Fantastic! Good to know that it is working.
P.S.: Did you read the post #4? I edited it, I added the information of the default path of JD2, when you use the web installer :-

Okay, that last post was confusing, but I think I've finally got it figured it out. For whatever reason the ordinary JDownload webinstaller won't work with JRE6 or 7 (for me at least). JDownloader2 webinstaller will work but only with jre7. I've actually managed to install the beta version properly.
Up until now I've only tried the installer.jdownloader.org/WebInstaller.exe not the beta version at the bottom of the page. Had anyone suggested that, this would have been a much less frustrating afternoon. The only problem I encountered was during the installation Windows Defender attempted to block the installer claiming it was a software bundler. I had to 'allow' it before I could continue. That didn't happen with the other installer, only the beta version (v2.0). Screen cap: I've deleted the folder in C: that i had the portable version running from and restarted my computer and browser and Jdownloader2 and everything is still working properly. I can even run the program from the start menu. I'm a little giddy. Thank you again. Last edited by theholytoast; 03.09.2013 at 07:16. |

hello
I have the same issue, I have the same error message and tried with the jar file in another folder than default one but unsuccessfully. I have a java 1.8 runtime environment and not 1.7, could it be the reason ? Thanks in advance for your help. e/ btw, sorry I didn't mention I was running a win 7 64 bits Last edited by rag; 17.08.2015 at 21:47. |

Thanks for your answer.
I tried and I have still the issue, it's just the UI that changed. In attachment, print screens: the first screen is just before language selection, the second when you are asked the path for installation. |

I don't know !
I can create a new folder or a new file if I use an explorer but for an unknown reason, the installer cannot. If anybody has a clue, I would be thankfull. Otherwise, I will give a try on my linux system. |

If you create that folder manually, do you still get the same error?

Do you start the Tool as your user? Is your user admin on the system?
I can offer help via Teamviewer if you like

Solved via Teamviewer. Comodo Firewall blocked all file access from java. Removed/Reboot and installation all fine
Thanks for Teamviewer!

Thank you very much for the quick support.
Indeed, it was comodo's fault. I already tried by quitting the program and installing but it seems that even closed, there were some running processes that prevented the installation. So removing completely from the system was the solution. |
