Why my download speed is restricted to 11 mb/s
Hello,
It's strange, I have fiber optic broadband 100 mb download/100 mb upload, but I never can download more than 11 mb/s. I tried different mirrors with different files, to test the speed, but always is limited to 11 mb/s How may break this limit? I did a test to my connection and it is working fine, 100 mb/s download and 100 mb/s upload. Any idea to solve this? Cheers |

@mrmister: Sure you have 100mbyte/s and not 100mbit/s ?
11 mbyte/s sounds abour 100mbit/s connection. Else you would need a full sync 1gbit/s connection. and normally speeds are given in mbit and not mbyte.so most likely 100mbit/s up/down connection

Yes, megabytes.
My connection speed is broad band: 100 megabytes per second download (that is: 100.000 kilobytes per second, download) 100 megabytes per second upload (that is: 100.000 kilobytes per second, upload) It is not megabits, it is megaBYTES. Fiber optic. But it is limited to 11 mb/s when I download with JDownloader and it never goes faster? Why? Last edited by mrmister; 08.09.2022 at 17:47. |

Have you tested same file in browser? What speed do you get at speed.hetzner.de ? Is JDownloader on the same computer? or another one/nas device? checked connection? 11 mbyte/s sounds like 100Mbit/s. maybe lan cable?

The speed graphics don't show a red line.
I am not testing a single file, I am downloading multiple files from multiple high speed mirrors, like: megaupload, wetransfer, etc. These mirrors are high speed, even in free mode. Despite this, I never go faster than 11 mb/s. Seems to be that JDownloader reorganize the speed among the downloaded files in such a way, that I never can go faster than 11 mb/s. speed.hetzner.de does not show a gauge with the speed... you just download files. I tried to download the 100MB.bin. It was downloaded so fast, that I did not see any speed indicator in my screen, it took 1 second or less. JDownloader is in the same computer. I tested my connection today and yes, I got: 100 megabytes per second download (that is: 100.000 kilobytes per second, download) 100 megabytes per second upload (that is: 100.000 kilobytes per second, upload) I did a second test. At speed.hetzner.de, I tried to download the 1GB bin using JDownloader. Now I had enough time to take some screenshots, I am sharing the screenshots here, please, take a look to them. This file of 1 GB took 1 minute 31 seconds to be downloaded with JDownloader and the speed showed 11,30 MB/s 11 MB/s is 100 megabytes per second? I am trying to show a screenshot, but this forum does not allow me to show the screenshot? Please, let me know how may I upload the screenshot Last edited by mrmister; 09.09.2022 at 06:48. |

@mrmister: Please share a screenshot of the speed tests you made? in browser, so I can see speed there.
Also please share a screenshot of the about dialog of JDownloader? Are you downloading to local disk or some network/usb share? We can also take a look at this together via Teamviewer, just contact us via support@jdownloader.org Don't worry, we(support staff) can see your screenshot.

Hi, sorry, I don't understand your reply. What dialog do you want to see? The installation path? I am download the files via JDownloader and what I get is 11 MB/s.
Speed tests are done via web browser in this website: **External links are only visible to Support Staff****External links are only visible to Support Staff** In the page you said, there are several windows (dialogs) and I don't know exactly which one do you want to see? |

@mrmister: a screenshot of a download in browser or your speed test showing a max speed of 100 mbyte/s
and from your about dialog of JDownloader, I want to know the used java version of your JDownloader installation, it is shown in the aboug dialog, see https://support.jdownloader.org/Know...tion-directory what dialog I'm talking about. I can also offer you live help via Teamviewer, just contact us via support@jdownloader.org

Hi, sorry for my delayed reply, I was away.
Here are the screenshots you requested. 1) Speed test in web browser 2) JDownloader about dialog When I download, the maximum speed I reach is 11 mb/s Due my connection is broadband 100000 kbps (100 mb), I should get 100 mb/s and not 11 mb/s Why do I get only 11 mb/s and not 100 mb/s |

Bit vs. Byte and Kilo vs. Mega
11 MB/s is ok. |

I am confused... I think I do not understand well the differences, perhaps, between bit, byte, etc.
11 mb/s = 110 megabytes per second? |

@mrmister: speeds are normally states as bit/s unit.
your screenshot shows 99.576 kpbs (kbit/s) = around 100.000 kbit/s = 100mbit/s 1 byte = 8 bit -> 100mbit/s ~ max 12,5 mbyte/s -> 11 mbyte/s are perfect speed for your connection.

keep in mind that their are overheads in the tcp/ip stack, this is why you never get full 12.5
