I think you might need to contact Sun (now Orakel), because this isn't a jD issue. Try Forum: Java Runtime Environment (JRE) ("http://forums.oracle.com/forums/forum.jspa?forumID=937"), but there might be other sources as well.

Check for an hs_err*.log file in your JDownloader directory. Attach these files to a message.

Make sure you are installing Java 32 bit JRE version 6 update 21 from java.sun.com/products/archive (except for OSX).

Since nobody has posted a summary of their OS, security software, and the other information requested in the General Bugreport rules, we cannot help much.

Well my OS is XP. There was no hs_err.log file in the directory. And I just looked on google for update 21. Didn't find it, just lots of update 22s. Would that be OK to download?

Well I went ahead and did it anyway. When I tried to install update 22 of JRE it said it's been installed already asked me if I wanted to reinstall. Made me reinstall it twice. Re-ran the JDown, it tries to install update 15, then gives the same code that the OP shows.

Cool

Did you apply Jiaz' recommendations in post #2 for removing all java? Usually you can un-install java versions in the Control Panel's "Add or Remove Programs".

Please, don't install update 22. Read drbits' post #11 again.

Yes I uninstalled them all but then I did download update 22. Update 21, not to be found.

update 22 is okay to use, so is update 21
you have to make sure no old java traces are left
use registry cleaner and if needed cleanup last traces yourself with regedit.exe
