How do Java Updates work (JD2 on Synology)
Hi there,
I just set up JDownloader 2 on Synology using Java SE Embedded 8. My installed version of Java is: Oracle Java SE Embedded Version 8 Update 151. According to the Oracle website there is a newer version (Update 161), but the newer version doesn't seem to work with JDownloader 2. My questions: - How do i know, when JD2 is ready for 161? - Why does JD2 doesn't support the newest version? (Java is known to be relatively insecure) Thanks in advance |

JDownloader supports Java 1.6 up to 1.8, 1.9 support is working but experimental.
And no, Java is not known to be 'relatively insecure'. Most security issues came from the browser java extension. There is no need to update Java when it is running fine for you. In case you still want to update Java, simply follow the steps shown on synology homepage www. synology.com/de-de/knowledgebase/DSM/help/Java8/java8
