Don't know if what I'm about to say is possible:
  • Extract audio tracks to audio container files (e.g.:
    mp4(AAC+H264) --> mp4(AAC)
    webm(Vorbis+On2) --> oga(Vorbis))
  • Play media files while downloading.

we are planing to use ffmpeg (a self written or existing wrapper) for the demuxxing, video converting.
using shared libraries is no good choice because it limits usage as we need jni and a lib for each os/32/64bit. using ffmpeg executable like we use at the moment we only need one small binary for each os.
