can you please close all java processes and start jd with windows_createlog.bat (in your jd folder) and when it freezes upload log here
point 4 of my list would help most as i see instant whats going on in jd. so i hope someone of you is willing to install java jdk and create thread dump with jconsole (in your jdk folder then)

I've been reading this thread and I think some of the data I saw refer to known causes. Please, first read the sticky threads. I haven't experienced these problems for a long time.

If your issue can't be solved with those threads, please launch windows_createlog.bat (you'll find it in your jD folder) and post the log you'll find or if you don't run Windoze, post an Emergency Log.

I think this bug is more massive that it seems... most people dont blame the program when something freezes in windows xD

registered in the forum just to report,

Also hapening here, from a couple of days, downloading only from megaupload,

W764, no firewall, no AV,,,

1)what do you mean with freeze:
-ok you start downloading and everything goes fine for some minutes, sudenly you see that downloading speed is always the same, for example 100KB/S, you can see it in the speed reporting and in the graphic BUT the file doesn´t grow and its always the same size... while thie is happening, you can work with the program, move, etc, everything is responding, go to settings, etc.
BUT
If you use another program that fits the screen and try to return to jdownloader, you cannot see it anymore, or if you minimize it and try to maximize, you can see the window going up but there is no program, you see what you were seeing before.

also i have two javaw processes, i dont know if this is normal, and the two of them dont use any CPU or change it size in memory doesnt matter how much you wait. To close the program you must kill one of this processes, the one bigger in size

1.1)answered i think

1.2)dont know how to do that, i will try now

2)only megaupload, big list

3)i dont think so

4)no idea

4.1)no idea, maybe i will try now

Default Can i add other information

I have the same problem on two different PC from 3 days ago.
Both PC have XP SP2 installed:

Jd 0.9.580
java build 1.6.0_22 b04
avg 2011 free antivirus
Windows standard firewall

The problem is a Freeze (not total some command still work but it is impossible to stop download and to stop the program) during download , it happens on premium account and also in free condition on all the hoster like mega, rapid fileser....etc etce;
The speedmeter also freeze at a casual speed with a flat costant line...

Bye

What I've see is that with version 21 of Java freezes are less common than version 22.

So I recommend installing version 21 instead of 22 right now. I'm testing some things to find out what could be the problem.

I'm trying just downloading Megaupload stuff and with JD window not maximized.

Please, read Jiaz's posts (#37 & #42). Provide logs, otherwise he'll not be able to find the cause.

I think im doing the log right now... Okey it seems that the problem begin when one of the links shows the "No conecction" message. Then the speed graph freezes at one speed (in my case 5,86MB/s) and no new connections are added until you force them to connect.

It going to freeze in few minutes and i will write the log if I can.

i really need the threaddump, cause something freezed the edt(java's internal gui thread). with a threaddump i can clearly see whats going on and why it's not working anymore and will be able to fix it VERY fast.

i know its not very easy to produce such a threaddump, but at best only one dump is enough for me to fix this.

I want to help but log did not show nothing (log.txt) with nothing on it.

What I'm doing wrong? Tell me how do I do a threaddump.. or where I can find a guide.

BTW the less max connections I have and the less max downloads I have the longer the JD works.

threaddums are more important than logfiles.
1.) install java jdk (please check if its the same version as the java version you already have installed)
2.) wait for jd to freeze
3.) start jconsole (c:\program files\java....jdk\bin). somewhere in jdk folder, inside bin folder
4.) on the left you will find jdownloader process, click on it,
5.) on the right you will see information about jd then and there is a thread list /button
then you can save this list and provide it here

1.) what do you mean with freeze?
1.1.) does jd no longer react? not downloading anymore? does gui not react but continue to download(check taskmanager, network)? is jd alive(you can check by enabling webinterface and see if you still can connect to it)?
1.2.) please start jd with windows_createlog.txt that will create a logfile in your jd folder. in case jd froze, then you can upload logfile and give us urls / or append it to post
2.) what hosts do you have in list? are mediafire/netload in it while that happens?
3.) please make sure NO dialog is hidden somewhere on screen, in that case it may block the gui and it may look like its froozen)?
4.) for experienced users: please try to provide threaddump information in frozen state
4.1.) you need to have jconsole installed(provided by java jdk) and start it, on the left you will see jdownloader running then. then there is a thread button/list, copy and paste all the list and post it here. it might be a deadlock causing this but for me to fix this i need such a threaddump.
1.) I mean it freezes up ... and will not respond. I can not add any files ... doesn't linkgrab ... isn't downloading ... can't close it ... unless go to task manager.
1.1) I'm not familiar with gui or webinterface. <sorry> I can tell you nothing moves on the program that I can see. No, it's not still running but just visually frozen. If even a small file was at 99% when it froze ... 30 minutes later it's still not done in the folder. And if it was trying to extract files ... they never finish extracting ... unless I restart the program ... or do them myself manually.
1.2) I'm not sure how to start with that file. Sorry again. But I will try to figure out how to do that.
2.0) Those hosts are definitely in my list ... and have been active at times when it froze ... but not active others. I have tried to run just one host at a time to see if it's a certain host ... but not had any luck there.
3.) I've had it happen when it was the only program running ... and it was minimized ... and I never saw any dialog.
4.) I'm not familiar with this either. But with the other requests or this one ... if you want to pm me or e-mail me detailed instructions ... I'll try to do whatever I can to help. I went to java on my control panel & found the console under the advanced settings. It was set to hide console, so I changed it to show console. However, I don't see anything new, & don't know what to do to start it. As I said, if it's something you can talk me through step by step ... I'll try to do whatever I can to help you find what is causing the problem. Sorry I'm not more help to you atm.

@Jiaz

Is this method for creating a thread dump sufficient : "**External links are only visible to Support Staff** or do customers need to install a JDK?

ok ... closed all java ... found the createlog.bat ... clicked on it numerous times & this small window pops up a second then disappears. It never started JD, so finally I started it manually. Hopefully this will do something you want it to do. I tried to go & DL the jdk as you asked, but I have a problem with that. Ever since I switched to Firefox a good while back ... there are some pages it just plain will NOT let me go to. Says can't connect to the server. Well, I tried like 10 different pages to DL that jdk ... and I can't connect to any of them. Figures ... huh?
OK ... so when it freezes ... you want a copy of the errlog.txt? The log.txt? Both?

agree with what pcupm said. Here is an exact copy of what is in the file so far :

'java' is not recognized as an internal or external command,
operable program or batch file.

ok i have more info,

i did all the jdk thing, then i launch JD and wait.. and when i started to have the same behaviour like before (it seems to be downloading but it doesnt, with the same speed in the graph but nothing downloading) i started gathering this info...
BUT it didn´t freeze, it just waited and restart the connection with megaupload.
Now its working, but i will post the info just in case, also to have confirmation that i did ok and this is the info needed, then i will gather it again when it freezes:

The graphic changed while copy-pasting like this:

I've also been having the same problem, but I don't think it's just JD or the new Java update.

I was downloading some files from megaupload and I was getting the same freezing that "pcupm" was describing.
So after finding this thread I decided to wait for a fix.
I needed one more file from MU so I started the download with IDM ( Internet download Manager ) and guess what.
It had the same problem too.
So I think it's something with MU that's acting up.

Here's my info:
Win 7 64bit
Java 22
Avast! internet security
JD 0.9.580
IDM 6.03 beta 11
