Please make sure you have installed the Required Patch if you are running Vista or later (MS-W 6.x). MS does not normally distribute this patch, but it fixes important problems in the OS.

Please check that your security software is not interfering with JD or Java.

If JD will not start at all, follow the directions under JD Hangs, Freezes, Doesn't start.
____________

If any program stops working after uninstalling another program (such as uninstalling Quicktime), parts of the program were not uninstalled. This is almost always the case with antivirus programs. It is a good idea to use an uninstall-sweep program such as Revo Uninstaller to do the uninstall (it does the uninstall, then checks for leftovers).

There is usually a cleanup program available at the products support site. This is almost always necessary for programs that put hooks into the OS (such as an antivirus).

You will probably have to run a registry cleaner. I recommend Glary Utilities ([glarysoft.com). Just running a registry cleaner and restarting the computer should take care of the Quicktime uninstall problem.

check if you can start jdownloader.jar by hand
double click it or
console: java -jar JDownloader.jar in jd folder
for JDownloader.exe the registry path must be valid (which can be broken)
you can repair it yourself
HKLM\Software\JavaSoft\Java Runtime Environment\1.6
there a correct/valid path/exe must be given

regarding mercury, well this company changed to HP, so I am not sure if I can get support for that

Maybe in regedit, I can look for specific field to see if possible to stop from trying to load?

I also tried to follow this link C:\PROGRA~1\HP\QUICKT~1\
bin\JAVA_S~1\classes;C:\PROGRA~1\HP\QUICKT~1\bin\JAVA_S~1\classes\jasmine.jar
and under java folder I have only /net folder, maybe in registry I can stop for java to try to load that jar file and classes as well as for testing?

Please find my log files below (not much help there).

I already have the WFP patch installed.
I have verified that all my security software is not interfering with Jd. I disabled them all for now.
I downloaded the java 1.6.0 update 21 from the following link: http://board.jdownloader.org/showpos...0&postcount=33

I ran Glarysoft Registry Repair. It didn't find anything related to Quicktime. I believe the Quicktime uninstall is irrelevant to this issue.

@ Jiaz

I can start Jdownloader.jar by double clicking it in the Jd folder.
Once it's started it can't download updates and it will not download any files in my linklist.

@ tony2long

I have the same info in that registry key as you.

I got issue fixed, I just went to MY Computer Properties and look for Environment Settings and removed variables for user and system that were generating those java errors, after that all apps started to load as well as Jdownloader started and updated and everything works now.

Well, thanks to everyone here for all thier help I got mine fixed too.
Thanks to denka I checked my environment variables and I was missing a path to java, so I added it to the user variables and everything works fine again.

Thanks again to all,

FloaTOR

P.S. I'm thinking that maybe uninstalling quicktime might have removes the variable, just a guess.

what i can see in log is that some kind of hp tool wrote some environment variables that broke java. thanks for investigating this issue and not giving up.
maybe your solution will help other users too

That's the way HP competes with Java.

Thumbs up

@ Jiaz

Of course, there were 2 variable that where under User and System variable that are _Java_Options and IBM_Java_Options, those are repeated in 2 windows.

I just look at those and saw that value was exactly what was giving me in error log files and I just removes those variables

Refer to screenshot for better understanding.
I might removed something good, but everything works for me as JDownloader and HP QTP and Loadrunner.

If you've problems with java, please contact the developers of your java version.

If you're using a 64 bits version of java, please install a 32 bits version.

If you exit jD and the memory is not released then the memory leak might be caused by your firewall or virus software.

If you're having other problems with jD, please provide a complete and detailed log.

I know I'm replying after a lot of time, was caught up in studies. Actually my problem has *not* been solved. I checked my environment variables, but found nothing out of the ordinary, everything looks pretty standard windows stuff.

My jderr.txt still shows the same error as before

Existing jD instance found means previous jD's run is still in the system. Use task manager to end javaw.exe, move your jD out of Program Files, run windows_createlog.bat from JDownloader folder and if still problem, attach the error logs.

So I ended the process, restarted the computer, uninstalled JD using Revo Uninstaller's most intense uninstall mode, reinstalled it in a different drive, ran it, same issue.

Same log.

Right now I can see javaw.exe running. If I close it, and start jD again, then no window opens, but javaw.exe is running again.

Your log indicates that there is another instance of jD already running.

Kill all java(w) processes and try again. Reboot your computer if necessary.

Please, provide an Emergency Log if your jD still doesn't start up properly.
