The guy who runs FSe claims the tool is a third party tool. By reading the comments about the tool and the host I'm inclined to think both have been developed by the same guy.

I've also started to get abnormally slow speeds with JDownloader on all hosts I tried (Filesonic and Fileserve) and the speeds average below 100KB/s. Downloading from rapidshare (even though I don't have a premium) is much faster. I didn't have this problem until recently, and nothing major on my computer has changed, other than updating ESET to the latest version (5). Downloading from Firefox is fine, so I assume that the problem is with JD. My only firewall between the web and me is ESET. I've completely disabled ESET and the problem persists.

Here's my stock reply :- Having speed issues? read this!
Note that completely disabling a virus software doesn't stop its viral activities. You need to completely un-install it. |

This is probably a fault due to the mentioned hosters. RapidShare has got much more capacities than Filesonic and Fileserve. These hosters reduce the speed limit for free users and they change it whenever they want/have to. A firewall wouldn't influence just one hoster or two hosters but letting the others do.

Please read my answer, Marc05. This is the hoster's "fault".

Also, I have premium accounts for both FileSonic and FileServe. Last edited by Marc05; 10.10.2011 at 13:45. |

Then complain to them! Browsers won't tell you the correct speed (they actually show the maximal speed reached), they measure it wrong whereas JD does this task correctly.

@Marc05
If you obtain higher download speeds with another program then there can only be three reasons :- 1) the other program uses more connections; instead of increasing "Max. Con." in jD, I would download more files simultaneously; 2) something is blocking jD; for solutions see my previous post; 3) bad measuring tool; for solutions see my previous post. |

That's through Firefox. My previous statements where based on the overall experience and not any specific tests I had done. I'll post an update after I do some simple tests later. EDIT: Well, I haven't come across the same problem, and nothing has changed in my system yet, so it had to be the hosts. Quote:

Note that if you write your replies in my quotes it's more difficult to quote you.
You don't need jD if you don't/can't download more files at a time. Simply use your browser. It's not a proof if you don't download exactly the same file simultaneously with different tools. |
