Default A New Feature: Categories and folders

Hello and morning everyone
This is my first time to post here. I have been using JD2 since 2008.
I really wish to see that this feature is implemented: to be able to group the folders by download category: Games, Tutorials, Movies, Animation.
Because I run 3 JD at the same times: one for Games, one for Learning and one for Movies downloading.
I wish to have this ability as follows:
Games (Category-Folder Mapped)
State OF decay... ---------------->(Folder name)
  • Part1.rar (FileName)
  • part2.rar (FileName)
  • Part3.rar (FileName)
Games OF Thrones ---------------->(Folder name)
  • Part1.rar (FileName)
  • part2.rar (FileName)
  • Part3.rar (FileName)
  • part4.rar (FileName)
Tutorials (Category-Folder Mapped)
ASP.NET.... ---------------->(Folder name)
  • Part1.rar (FileName)
  • part2.rar (FileName)
PHP For dummies ---------------->(Folder name)
  • PHP For dummies.rar (FileName)
Movies (Category-Folder Mapped)
Games OF thrones Season 5 ---------------->(Folder name)
  • E01.mkv (FileName)
  • E02.mkv (FileName)
  • etc.... (FileName)
Vidya Balan Movies ---------------->(Folder name)

etc....

If this has been implemented, please tell me, or send me the link of how to do this.

Thanks in advance for your time.

Can you please explain what exactly you mean by *category* in your use case?
do you mean a dropdown with predefinied folders?

Hi, Good morning to you,
I already know that we can do it wit the download path, comments, i discovered it myself without reading the posts here. BUT:
  1. Maybe it is a drop down if it will be easier to be implemented., it is a generic name given to the category that, maybe You are right Sir, mmm You find a solution i guess predefined categories for downloads types. (Movies, Learning, Tutorials, Music, Games, etc.... ) something like any download manager having this ability.
  2. for example: i may gather all the download items (by folder name) inside a Categorized folder named Tutorials, another one may name this categorized folder: Learning, both folders will have the same contents (ASP.NET, C#, JAVA,etc..., these folders will contains filenames directly) with but different names
  3. It will be also great if the developer do this because people will be happy to see that they can download many things as the same time, pause the games category.
  4. Think of it as You put a new parent directory for the downloaded items.
  5. Something like the file explorer: C:\Windows\System; C:\windows\System32; etc.... so the windows folder here is the parent,
  6. you will find that others folders exists next to the windows folder inside the c:\ drive.

It is so boring that I keep having 3 or 4 JD2 instances for my downloads it is becoming hard to maintain them, update them, exit one and run one because i need to download a new item of another category.

Believe me, people like me are ADDICTED to JD, JD is an AWESOME work. i hope you will re-consider members requests for such implementation.

I know Java, C#, C++, PHP, since 2000 but i can not make such thing like You are doing.
JD lack this minor/important ability.

It is worth the time to implement it, at least do it do for a small fees to be bought with. At least people will know that they can get it for some small fees.

Thank you Sir for your time.

More illustrations, think of it as generic folder inside folder like windows explorer that is mapped to a folder on the hard disk, another layer on top of the "Various package" option i.e Category Folder.

Tutorials (mapped to folder: D:\Down\Tutorials)
Java (mapped to folder: D:\Down\Tutorials\Java)
Into to Java.rar
Java for dummies part1.rar
Java for dummies part2.rar
AspNet (mapped to folder: D:\Down\Tutorials\AspNet)
PHP (mapped to folder: D:\Down\Tutorials\PHP)
C# (mapped to folder: D:\Down\Tutorials\C#)
Movies (mapped to folder: D:\Down\Movies\)
Angelina Jolie (mapped to folder: D:\Down\Tutorials\Angelina Jolie)
Movie 1.rar
Movie 2 .rar
Movie 3.rar
Liam Neeson (mapped to folder: D:\Down\Tutorials\Liam Neeson)
Games
Music
Series
etc....

Default Sort downloads by category.

There is a proposal for the implementation of a function that, for some unknown reason, has not yet been implemented. Sort downloads by category. Some loaders already have this. When there are a lot of downloads in the program, more than it fits on the window, it is inconvenient to view them. To do this, categories are added to the programs. Something similar in the program is called containers. But containers simply decide what to do with the download and in which folder to save it according to the given conditions. But containers do not appear in the list of downloads. And I would like to.

For example, I create a "Video" container to which all video files will be sent. And along with this, the category "Video" appears in the list of downloads. If I click on this category, only downloads from the "Video" category will be visible in the download list. All others will hide. If I want to see ALL my downloads again. I'll click on the All Downloads category.

I think it would be very convenient. But it is probably difficult to implement, because you will have to change the program interface in order to display categories somewhere. What do you think of it?

Merged duplicated/similar requests.

@K14M
As you can see you're not the first user who has suggested such a feature.
