Question JDownloader for Android

I would love to see JDownloader on Android.
I was wondering if this would be possible as android apps are written in java and so is JDownloader?
Regards,
Thomas.

If your Andriod version runs a full standard java version, then jD should be able to run on it.

What do you mean?
Android apps though written in java are packaged as .apk files.
and I do not know if you can just run a .jar file.

Since the .apk fomat is a variant of the .jar format you might be able to find a mechanism that packages jD as an .apk file.

I've found a website for converting to .apk, except to do it you also need a .jad aswell as the .jar, and I don't know if there is a .jad file.

Android run java compiled to Dalvik. Only the UI need work, because is completely different.

Having something like JDowloader in my smartphone is a dream.

+1 to petition!

tnks JD team.

I've heard of a couple different groups working on this. But at this stage nothing is public.

Because its possible and it saves a lot of energy.
Also, Android isn't just used on phones.
Looking forward to buy this monster:
eee.asus.com/eeepad/transformer-infinity/features/
->I already thought about running JD on that->Would be just awesome but well, lets hope the Java developers will bring full Java to Android.

By the way Android is also used in companies on servers (my father told me^^).
Actually i never used it so i can't say anything about it but i ll soon be able to test Android and all its functions

The power consumption is the primary concern, I have to turn on a desktop with 6 core and a big GPU, and let it on for many hours simply to download files.

Java in android? Forget it. The UI is completely different.
Apps in the android are written in java and compiled to dalvik as I said.

And android is not used in servers, what is used is LINUX.

For energy saving i prefer low power PCs. Like Laptops, Intel Atom- or small i3-System, AMD Fusion-Systems (all three power consumption around 20 Watt idle depends on config) or an Rasberry PI* (5Watt). Because these can be also used for surfing, Office, Bluray(not at all Atom Systems), Streaming (Netflix ), record TV shows, playing Music/Webradio and as a NAS. Imo make more sense then using a mobile phone for downloading, you always have to check the battery dont forget to charge, perhaps age prematurely like the SD Card too.

*ok isnt out yet -.-'

Nun, bis dahin kann ich den "ShareDownloader" Empfehlen.
Er ist eine Prima Downloadmanager alternative für Android!
Derzeit Supporte ich auch für diesen Tool!

because the phone is always on, everybody use one, now the phones have a lot of memory and unlimited internet. the pc makes too much noise to keep it on all the time (especially during night) and if you dont have premium accounts, you will have to start over the download that already took few hours. i still hope there will be a jdownloader.apk soon.

An Android version is still not planned.
Also, not all of your arguments are good ones.

In a lot of countries that is not the case.
Here in Germany you pay 5-10€ for ~10-20GB per month.

* and power.
But that's your personal problem when using a PC.
Run JDownloader on a Raspberry Pi and you won't have these problems.

If you are walking around with your android phone, all of your un-resumable downloads will be killed each time you are loosing the connection...

That is not going to happen.
