I enjoy JD on a daily basis and have nothing to complain about. And when there is a problem your support is quick and usually solves it within hours or a couple of days.

I have thought of two things I think could improve JD a bit:

1) It would be great if it was possible to easily save the link list from either the Linkgrapper or the download tabs. That way they could be saved in a file for either later use, or - as I would do - transfer them to another PC which could download instead of using my main PC. In other words: highlight and right-click "Save link list (as)" and File-> "load link list..." or right-click in the Linkgrapper window and "Load link list" (When saving the list it should be in addition be possible to omit (optionally) links already in the DL list and/or off-line link)

This first suggestion would be really handy to move lists from one computer to another. I am aware it is possible to dig out some files in the JD folder and get the links from there, but direktly being able to save and load such link lists would make it much easier. If such a list file was in text format, it could even be edited off-line.

2) The other suggsetion would be to color code also the "packages" in the Linkgrapper, so it is easy to spot which ones have either files already in the download list or offline files. At this time e.g. links already in the download list are having a red background but you can only see it when you press the + next to the package.

1. You can currently only save items as a DLC container.
While that is not ideal, it may work for you.
Apart from this, as you've already recognized correctly, you can export/import linkgrabber- and downloadlists "by hand" as described here:

2. Good suggestion!
You are not the first user to suggest that but I'm having trouble finding similar threads to this atm.
The only thing you could do at this moment is the following:
- Add all packages expanded: Settings -> Advanced Settings -> LinkCollector.packageautoexpanded
and/or:
- Use an EventScripter script to e.g. disable packages with links that are already in your downloadlist -> This way you could spot them easier

To further promote idea 1, I can add that such a thing would be handy if you follow certain sites and don't want to download already downloaded files. I can leave them in the download window but that will end up with a lot of clutter (and eventually slow down JD).

an example:

I like to go to **External links are only visible to Support Staff****External links are only visible to Support Staff** and **External links are only visible to Support Staff****External links are only visible to Support Staff** and download the whole thing using JD. Then, after some weeks I can come back and download again and compare to the previous download to find new files.

If I could save the package after download in a link-file, then I could simply load them into the download window and disable them before entering the links above in the linkgrapper. Then JD would recognize that most files already have been downloaded before and not download them again (unless I ask it to, of course).

I will investigate your suggestion about the DLC container, I haven't tried it yet.

Suggestion 1:
Well ultimately you would like to have a working "download history".
JDownloader was never designed to be used to keep all of the downloadlist.

Sadly I can assure you that we will never / not in the near future add the thing you requested.
Currently you can do the following:
1. Backup your current downloadlist.
2. Inside the current downloadlist, delete what you don't need.
3. Create a backup of that new partly-downloadlist.

My DLC suggestions comes with a lot of flaws - in the following thread I explained why in general using DLC containers as a backup for anything is a bad idea:

Thanks again. Yes and no - my intention with the download list was primarily to be able to off-load the download tasks to another computer after finding the downloads I was interested in. The history would just be an added bonus, so to speak.

I understand and respect that you have your priorities, and I was just making a suggestion I thought could be useful for me and probably many others.

No worries this suggestions won't be lost - we need a better export/import handling anyways.

The easiest way would probably be to let the user export selected items in the same format which it is currently internally using for storing downloadlists and linkgrabberlists...
