As most users just use search engines or just type in domains into the address bar, its not like we can do much anyway. Warnings wont achieve much unless users goto our website to read it. That said jdownloader.org/net and appwork knows of this problem and its been slowly dealt with in the appropriate manner.

Default jdownloader.com again

i just installed the version from the .com site and was suspicious all along the intalling process and then decided to google for jdownloader. then visited the .org site to check if the .com is a hoax. i didnt find anything until i searched the forum.
you are aware of the problem as there are many threads about it so please put this issue finally on your frontpage!
the reason "it's already too late when you installed it, therfore wo dont need to warn on our page" is not true. when you are curious and dont find anything on your site. users might think the downloaded .com software is ok.

Funny thing is that on the jdownloader.com page there is (buttom of the page) a text which says they're not the official site.
I COULD now say "open your eyes before downloading anything from there" but actually i wouldn't have read it either so i just hope there aren't many people going into this trap!

Eset NOD32 already blocks downloads from their website. Red Flag, file deleted on clicking download button:

Doesnt this make it look like jd.org are the developers of the program that they host on jdownloader.com site? Isnt it a trap?

I recommend you download from jdownloader.org as you get the lastest installer. Also this should mean no one has altered / changed the installer as it could be possible from any 3rd party file mirror site. These 3rd party file repositories type websites, can often be old/out dated.

I've been thinking this as well some time ago, but it would be a denial of all good principles of open source software development that are claimed by jD.org.

The jD.com site is a secret project that has as primary goal to spread malware disguised as a trusted program. Try to contact them and you'll see they just collect your e-mail addresses, probably for selling them to spammers.

According to alexa.com the site is unclaimed. Their traffic is steadily increasing because they actively make propaganda for their criminal activities. I wouldn't be surprised if the site belongs to one of the many drug cartels in South America. I deduce that from their huge popularity in Columbia (top 7000 site).

The fact that these guys haven't been arrested yet means that they're part of a powerful Mafia organisation that is able to escape German, Spanish, European and International laws concerning trademarks and copy rights. It's no surprise that they have their domain registered on the Balearic Islands. These isles are a safe haven for Mafia money and other illegal activities.

I really doubt it

If whoever is running it is selling addresses for spam or plans to package malware, it'd earn them pennies. Not worth any self-respecting mafiosi's time.

They wont get arrested because at worst it's a civil issue, you'd have to find out who they were and sue them, which would be expensive.

It's just a (very) small time scammer who probably plans to advance it in pagerank and then try to sell it. Then it will turn into something sleazy.

Currently it's #2 on Google search for "jdownloader", after this site.

That's a pain in the ass, indeed. Some time ago I have written a complaint to Google. I guess it would be helpful if as much users as possible do the same. Here you go:

This proves again that Gogol's search results and the algorithms they use can't be trusted at all. They are extremely biased by $$$ and fake.

Ixquick provides much better results.

Google doesn't tell you if a site is "good", it just tells you if it seems to have information on the required subject, and has been linked from other sites.

The main thing is to make sure that any sites that provide links to JD use the real domain.

Lots of people just assume ".com" so you have a problem if that's the fake.

Why then do you think Ixquick's search results are much better than Gogol's?
