As of today (30 Jan 2024) the Vimeo plugin appears to be no longer functional.
It was working fine yesterday.

Now if I attempt to add a link such as:
**External links are only visible to Support Staff****External links are only visible to Support Staff**

I just get a link named "Plugin Defect!9397004".

Any assistance to resolve this will be appreciated.

Well it is now working, thanks for the support.

Actually it appears that there must have been something on their end. After it not working, today the links work as expected.

There is a problem with newer vods that were livestreamed via vimeo.

Example URL: **External links are only visible to Support Staff****External links are only visible to Support Staff** (this is a vod now, not an ongoing livestream)

Insert link into JD.

Error message: Plugin defekt!UNSUPPORTED_STREAMING_TYPE_HLS_SPLIT_AUDIO_VIDEO_909161734

The error is still happening. I understand this has happened before, unless Vimeo has actually cut off external download support altogether.

Had to subscribe to Vimego in the meantime to make this easier for me, but no software other than JDownloader2 can let me download original files from Vimeo. This problem is occurring most often with videos that do include the original files. For someone not very well versed in GitHub, is there a way other than relying on JDownloader that I can download Vimeo videos as original files and not just compressed MP4s?

Your log is showing a failed vimeo.com login attempt.
I've fixed that.

That is wrong. Popular open source project "yt-dlp" can also do that, see my other post where I've linked some possible workarounds:

It is not about having any knowledge about Github. In this case it is about the ability to use commandline applications though I still don't get it: You will find hundrets of tutorials for yt-dlp on the Internet and there are even projects which will add a GUI for yt-dlp.
You should be able to get it running in less than 30 minutes, even as a "noob".

As long as the item you're trying to download does not fail with error "UNSUPPORTED_STREAMING_TYPE_HLS_SPLIT_AUDIO_VIDEO", the problem shold be fixable and if it's not, I did link possible workarounds here:

Got the hang of yt-dlp, thanks, just haven't been able to use it to download hidden original files (usually large .mov or .mp4 videos).

You will not be able to download those with JDownloader at this moment due to "UNSUPPORTED_STREAMING_TYPE_HLS_SPLIT_AUDIO_VIDEO".
About the download of "hidden" slash "original" files:

Keep in mind that vimeo.com can change their frontend at any time.
I can't find those files in the sources of their public APIs yet so while they might exist, maybe only the original uploader of those files can access them nowdays.

You can check this yourself by using your browsers developer tools to find the request that goes to "player.vimeo.com" -> Check the json data.

All Vimeo downloads based on picture resolution have been working fine since the plugin was fixed, but it appears that Vimeo has changed their frontend yet again and ORIGINAL download files have not been accessed by JDownloader2 for a few weeks now. Not the video I was trying to download, but here is one particular video with an ORIGINAL download link publicly available and my attempt to download with JD2 as a sample:

As already answered before, vimeo can change their frontend at any point of time.
I'am still very unsure whether the availability of those original files was ever intended.
I didn't see them for a very long time and also, quoting your post, we never released any kind of "fix" that finds the originals again.

You can check this yourself by opening the vimeo video URL in your browser and using the developer tools to find all available sources.

To my knowledge, original source files are rarely ever listed in the source of any Vimeo page. And not to suggest it ever was the intention, but it's still worth noting that in Settings >> Plugins >> Host Plugin: vimeo.com, JDownloader2 has the option to 'Load Original Version'.

Yes because technically, original files can still be available.

The same goes for e.g. quality 2560p - you can select it there but it's not always available

I think I now have an idea of what could be the cause of this: recently, Vimeo discovered that someone was using the source file download feature to break ToS, and their way of cracking down on this was to introduce a new workflow that went into effect last month, requiring users to sign in to their Vimeo account to download Original files from the video pages. This is a major change to their frontend, and even linking my Vimeo account to JDownloader2 doesn't seem to work around it.

Also, you did not understand my last post:
You can easily verify all information I posted by using your browsers' developer tools to look into vimeo's traffic to see the video sources.
There are no originals (for your video) available [anymore]. Period.

Contact the uploader of the video and ask him if he wants to send you the original video.

@Maximillion93: I would say that in the past the "original file" was maybe pre selected to be available via api but they have changed to default no. It also heavily depends if the video is an uploaded video (may provide original file) but recorded streams don't have such an original file.

Seems like Vimeo is seriously cracking down on external downloads. All my requests to download from Vimeo this morning have been blocked by Cloudflare Site-Protection.

It's not. log shows that only main website triggers cloudflare for your IP. api still works just fine, so does the actual request to download. but the step of opening the website prior download fails for your due to cloudflare. wait for next plugin update and try again as this step will be optional then.
I could not trigger cloudflare at all so most likely you have bad/flagged IP or static IP
