Newbie, so this might be a stupid question. I was downloading (separately) some video files from a "box" host site. When I loaded each URL for each file, the jdownloader window would show the source in the 3 gb range. But the file downloaded was around 700 mb. My question is whether there was something else in the host "box." What I got were small MP4 video files, but I'm wondering if there were bigger, higher rez videos there? Or what?

Depends.
Sometimes the size you see before downloading is estimated or serverside wrong though it shouldn't be that wrong.

To help you, I need the URL(s) you've added to JDownloader.

Thanks for the reply. I was going to add a screenshot to illustrate, but it would probably be more helpful to use the actual url. However, I'd like to send it privately rather than post it here, so I will try sending you a message.

About your PN:
The file you are trying to download is hosted on box.com.
It looks to have the original filesizer of ~2,8GiB which is what is dieplayed when you add it to JD.

Then though when trying to download, JDownloader sees that the box.com uploader has disabled official downloads which is why JD will download the highest streaming quality possible instead - in this case this is a 480p video with a file size of about 650 MiB.

I figured this might be the situation, but it seems odd we can see the folder size and yet only download one particular file. That is, I would think the url would just go to the specific file. Thanks for checking it out.

Well, to put it short, JDownloader can't do any magic things which your browser can.

While in this case it is able to see the file size of the original file because the public box.com endpoint provides it, that doesn't change the fact that the uploader has disabled the download of the original file in this case.
While I could modify the plugin to e.g. display no filesize at all in such cases or try to calculate the file size of the stream download right away, those would be more a kind of cosmetic changes for which I do not really see the need to.

As said, ask the uploader for the original file if you urgently need it.

I meant it's odd the UPLOADER gave an url to the folder, rather than just the small video file. If I hadn't seen the folder size, I wouldn't be wondering if there was a bigger version of the video. And allowing someone to see the folder might give them too much access, if they knew how to access it.
Technically, I was only suppose to stream the video (not download it) so I can't ask for access to a bigger/better file.

Maybe the uploader made that setting by mistake.

Either way - you can check the information I posted by simply opening said file/link [the one you sent via PN] in your browser: You will not find any option to download said ~2,8GiB file.
