I'll get to it... maybe. I'm careful about what I share in public spaces.

Have you heard of TreeWalk? It's a local DNS server. I've been using it. I doubt it's any less reliable than my ISP's servers (and supposed to be moreso), but maybe I'll take it out of the loop and see if it affects the disconnect errors. It shouldn't have anything to do with the permissions errors. Maybe I'll reinstate OpenDNS.

If an error is only happening during the download, not at the beginning of the download then it should not be DNS related. Your OS caches DNS results and JD should not need DNS while downloading a file (once the download starts, the IP address is used, not the Hostname).

It is more likely that your disconnection is due to a problem on the uploading.com equipment. The only way to see that would be to use a network sniffer like WireShark, But I do not understand why this would only be happening to you.

If you are still getting "No permission" messages, check to make sure that no program is reading your *.part files (the incompletely downloaded files). This includes programs that index or catalogue files (such as background searching for media files), antivirus (I know that isn't the problem here), and so on.

Do not forget to use the cleaner program for any antivirus you may have installed and to run a registry cleaner and LSPfix (to check for bad hooks into your network stack -- see Advanced System Cleaning).

Default Solved!!!

For those who still have the "No permissions to write to harddisk" error... ¿Are you using a Bittorrent/eMule client?

Try to stop them to make your own tests but, if you limit the conections to that client: the problem dissapears (One week for me to find the problem )

This has ceased being a problem for me, simply because the source of the uploading.com files that I was downloading has ceased to exist. I have no more files from uploading.com at all. Unless and until I have a source again, I can't find the cause. Since it only happened with uploading.com, for now it's out-of-sight-out-of-mind.

Actually I had the exact problem today for the 1st time "No permission to write to Hard Disk" and I been using JD for over 6 months. This error was ONLY on ORON, and today I also became prem member of ORON... ALL files from ORON gave EXACTLY the same error, no other sites, and I use 8 sites. I changed the chunk size to 1 and all started to run well. Guess can's use more than 1 chunk on ORON.

This bogus error is frustrating. I get this quite often. And its never because actual permission problem. It can happen with any host.

That bug is too difficult to remove, otherwise it would have been removed a long time ago.

How I made it work:

Hey guys, I had the same problem everyone else had, I changed antivirus prog, updated jdownloader etc. etc... result= nada

In the end I only resetted 1 file and could download that one without any errors. Its kinda lame to reset every file per click, because thats what the jdownloader is supposed to be doing. I hope this isnt a single case and I could be of some help

I recommend to :-

1) Allow java and javaw in your firewall and virus software. Disable (or un-install) the html/web download scanner in your virus software.

2) Reduce the Max.Con. setting (bottom right corner of jD window) to 1. Reset the affected links.

If this doesn't work please provide example links and a complete and detailed log.

I've just found this forum from a google search for the very same problem 've been using Jdownloader for around a year now without a problem until a week ago,Now every download in Jdownloader i either get "Lost Connection" Or "No permissions to write to hard disk".The same down load link work fine via flashgot in firefox or in rapidshare manager, I have fiddled with the firewall settings as suggested but they all seem fine,I've uninstalled my bit torrent client Utorrent,I have my max connections set to 2 but changed to 1 anyway and I'm still experiencing the problem. whether I'm on my hard wire pc on my wireless laptop I'm experience the same errors and its so frustrating, So any help would be really great as i love using jdownloader

Hi Jiaz, I have recently been getting the same error also every time using JD, even with files from YouTube - tried re-installing, turning number of downloads down to 1 and also removing all downloads in list and starting just a single fresh download - I've sent you a PM with my log, is there anything in there showing you the cause or anything else I can try to make the problem go away?

I really like JD but for now I'm using Tucan downloader as it works and will wait till there is a fix for JD

thanks

javax.net.ssl.SSLException: SSL peer shut down incorrectly

an rs serverside error, can be because of system restarts because of their latest system change (see rs homepage)

you can try to use less connections, if that helps. in case not please provide further logfiles so we can find out the problem servers and report them

Couldn't at least the misnamed error message be changed? Since it has nothing to do with the hard drive.
Maybe show some kind of network error, and then show the actual error like "javax.net.ssl.SSLException: SSL peer shut down incorrectly" in the previous post.
Also the ability to reconnect and continue download would be nice from JD in these occasions instead of disabling the downloads. Its rather annoying when I come back to the computer and see that all the downloads are disabled since god knows when, which happened a couple of times.

we cannot change the message in current stable. the "disk error" stuff comes from ioexception that are all handled that way. we will of course change this in future versions.

also future jd will autohandle this situation

java.net.SocketTimeoutException: Read timed out
come from firewall/av.
please setup them correct and add java.exe and javaw.exe to exclude list.
what firewall/av do you have?

I've done that I'm using Mcafee security centre,My set has been the same for about 8months now and nothing news been installed apart from a few Jdownloader updates so I don't know why this problem has only started in this week and only affects my Jdownloader as i downloaded and installed CryptLoad yesterday and that works fine. But I've been using Jdownloader for a few years now and would rather use it so any more help would be great.

With this issue now getting on my nerves i took a brake try to solve it and re built a friends machine, Complete format and a fresh windows 7 install,After i thought lets try Jdownloader on a new machine with only windows firewall on No antivirus or other firewall, Install Jdownloader plus updates etc installed Java exceptions added to window firewall, found a download 2mins into the download the red sign pops and the boxs goes grey i get - ABORTED or NO PERMISSION TO WRITE TO HARD DRIVE

I can only conclude that its either an ISP issue or a JDOWNLOADER problem,I've been with my ISP Virgin Media for 3 years now without any problem so i'm pretty sure its a JDOWNLOADER Issue.

Here the log from fresh machines JDOWNLOADER

Any help guys as this is doing my head in now!

For Win 7 you need to move JD out of Program Files and allow all permissions for JD's folder and sub folders.

@scarafce79
.SocketException: Connection reset
your router/isp kills the connection. note that using p2p at the same time can overflow your router's nat table can cause such reset mesages
also ppl from uk suffer from the iwf filterlist which is also known to cause such issues. also try to use max connections = 1 and rightclick reset the download

.SocketException: Connection reset are a network error, the connection gets killed by something else (isp,hoster,firewall/av, router)

Thanks to all you guys for your help,Shadowdogg that link was great after following the jdownloader guys advice and i was still getting the same thing i started to think that maybe if was a Virgin media issue,Then when my wireless started playing up losing visibility and dropping the connection a few days ago, i was pretty sure it was,so i did a little research and to discovered the R25 Super Hub Firmware issue that you've highlighted and it does seem to be the answer to both my Jdownloader and wireless issue,Both mine seem to be working now after a little tweaking. although my firewall was strangely already on and I'm using Mozilla instead of IE8 so i suspect there's more issues with the super hub then there letting on, but they seem to be working now so that's the main thing So fingers crossed for now

remove your account and then it should work
seems your account is no more premium or one of those failing ones. please try to download with the account in browser

in case other links work fine, please send account data and example links to support@jdownloader.org

i've been using JD for over 2 yrs now without any problems - but today i started getting a lot of "No permissions to write to hard disk" errors...

the only thing i did differently was capping my dl speed this morning (for the first time) - i started getting errors not long after that change. since removing the cap, all dls are doing just great. so i guess that for me, the capping speed setting is the culprit...

It may be helpful or not, but sometimes during virus scans (like the scheduled ones) there is a chance of write permission errors if 2 or more applications (i.e. JD & scanner) are trying to read/write the same file (actual file or the temp file).
I find it better to stop the downloads while running a scan

I thought I should mention that.

good luck
:)

Default permission to write to hard disk

Hi.
I hope this is the proper way. This is my log file link (or something like that...).

http://jdownloader.org/pastebin/38900

However, short description...
Everything was ok, until two days ago, I installed new version, and I get this message all the time. Very annoying.
I can resume download, and it finishes ok, but that is way to irritating.

Please check. I changed nothing in any firewall/AV configuration, and have a stable line.
