Default JDownloader freezes at splash page

Opening the program just gives me the splash page w/ "painting user interface". I've let it sit for up to 15 minutes and it refuses to do anything. Also, process javaw.exe is using anywhere from 95 to 99% of the CPU and the only way to get rid of the splash screen is to close javaw.exe with Task Manager.

Have tried downgrading to a lower version of Java, and a re-install of JDownloader, but nothing so far has worked.

I am running WinXP w/ SP3, Java6 update 21 and JDownloader is v0.9. Also am running Norton Internet Security 2011.

For Vista or W7 you better move your jD folder to a path like c:\progs\ and check whether all protections are removed, also on the sub-folders.

Delete JDHTTPLiveHeaderScripter.jar in the plugins folder.
Then update with JDUpdate.exe.

It worked for me.
