Default JDownloader no longer opening

Hi i have been using JDownloader for a while now and have been fairly happy with it. However, recently it stopped opening when the PC would start up and would not even run when opening it manually. The only way to open it is to run the JDownloader Update link in the start menu. This looks for downloads, i don't think it finds anything as there is -1% in each bracket, but after it goes through it's process, JDownloader would open.

The only thing that i could think of that has changed recently was that i updated Java when it popped up once on my desktop. I've tried re-installing JDownloader but had no luck, the version i am using is 0.9.581

Any help is much appreciated, thank you.

Is there any hs_err file in JDownloader folder? If not, try run windows_createlog.bat and attach the error logs.

Sorry, i am having problems uploading the logs so will copy and paste the content.

errlog.txt is empty

I included the update log file as running JDownloaderUpdater seems to be the only way to open JDownloader. So any problem/solution may be within that file, possibly to do with the Java version.

You didn't specify what version of the JRE you're running, but I would remove that java version and try another version. JRE 1.6 update 21 is stable. See "**External links are only visible to Support Staff**.

First make a backup of jD's config folder.

These are the following Java programmes i have installed:

J2SE Development Kit 5.0 Update 22
Java (TM) 6 Update 23
Java (TM) 6 Update 26 (64-bit)
Java (TM) 7 Update 1 (64-bit)
Java (TM) SE Development Kit 6 Update 24 (64-bit)

Where can i find the 1.6 update 21 on that site? There are so many different types of Java, not sure which to check.

Sorry, ignore that last bit. Was too stupid to read properly, found it now. But might stick with Java 6 update 26 (64-bit) for now and remove the other two as it was fine with update 26 i think. Will check it and hope that solves the problem.

I removed the 3 Java versions (java 6 32-bit, java 6 64-bit, java 7 64-bit) and re-installed Java (TM) 7 Update 1 (64-bit) and JDownloader seems to be fine, it opens when i double click the icon which it wouldn't do before.

Update 22 and 23 have shown serious bugs when running jD. That's why I recommend update 21.

JRE 7 is not officially supported by jD yet but some people have reported that it works just fine.

Note also that you don't need a 64 bits version of the JRE for running jD or any other java application that I know.
