Contacting Google
Quote:
support@recaptcha.net I e-mailed a complaint. Don't know if it will have any effect; given google's support culture: "Customer support isn't and never has been in their DNA. It's often rage-inducing how hard it is to contact a human at Google. They seem to think they can engineer products that don't need humans behind them." But encourage everyone to give it a try. |

It only works for Keep2share, Fileboom and Depositfiles, which for some reason seem to be reCaptcha v1. Don't ask me how or why. Everything else (including Rapidgator, Upstore and Filefox) I am trying to download via hoster webpage. They work but require captcha to be solved multiple times before providing a download link. |

Gandalf: Keep2Share/FileBoom have RecaptchaV2 and it highly depends if api/web mode if captcha is required or not. Depositfiles has RecaptchaV2 and requires the browser extension

That's interesting. For me, Fileboom uses a non-standard captcha (keep2share used to use that as well but switched to ReCaptcha). Depositfiles and Rapidgator use SolveMedia for me. Might be regional, I dunno.

@dabrown: yes, either regiional or they disabled rc2. plugin supports solvemedia and rc2, sorry, didn't saw that first. but for example the account login uses rc2 only so with disabled *Dialog in Browser* you might encounter issues with account login/use

Just to be sure:
Will the situation change for the better with reCAPTCHA v3? Or do we (most websites) already use this v3-Version? |

We're not aware of any site using RecaptchaV3 and if you ask me, I would not want to share all behaviour of my users with google Also RecaptchaV3 sounds more like protection but sites use RecaptchaV2 to nag free users and advertise their premium.

I don't get why there isn't more news surrounding this issue. It's essentially broken the internet for countless people since so many sites require recaptcha

Already thought about jd2 and other tools might trigger a behaviour switch in recaptcha causing it to react unfriendly to what is identified as not (always) human by recognizing their handling (speeding, straight mouse movements, or what else) or surrounding (jd plugin for example).
I just ask because the simple k-meleon browser gets nice captchas until jd2 tried once to get and let solve one. After this I have to call a new IP or wait a day. |

I noticed this morning that reCaptcha on both Filefox and Upstore (via webpage) only requiring a single correct captcha answer to begin download (quick image rendering and single correct verify required).
Tried re-enabling the browser extension and have immediately got the long running issue of the browser (firefox) extension misinterpreting openload captchas as olpair.com, and failing to render the tick box. But what is worse, finally had an Upstore link pop up in the browser extension window, and I had to complete the reCaptcha 4 times in the browser extension before it was accepted (slow image render and 4 passes required). Worked after one pass via the webpage. Have disabled the browser extension once again. Last edited by gandalf_grey91; 07.07.2018 at 15:42. |

Out of curiosity I clicked the "Headphone-Icon" on the recaptcha and was presented with this message (even after reconnecting to my provider)

More info: When using the recaptcha in firefox, as offered by share-online, without plugin and jdownloader, it works perfectly, but fails in jdownloader.
When using recaptcha as offered by filer.net with jdownloader and plgin, it works perfectly as well. So must have to do with the hoster. |

yes for a while now a lot of places using gooles recaptcha latest version 2, maybe goofle has updated that also to a newer version but unsure .... Regardless many seem to have an issue with firefox and it is taking a lot longer to get the accepted through the JD plugin for firefox 48.0.2 also
A lot of the pics are now more grainy and harder to see some of the long distance items at times such as cars etc. I noticed this around at least three weeks ago but figured something might be worked out from the JD side. Often I will select and then get a message also that says something like please try again as you do not seem to be connected to the internet wixh is also garbage or it times out and says such as please restart as the pulgin is or may be out of date. Eventually It usually goes through but I have had to sometimes take more than 5 minutes or more to get the captcha to be recognized properly for continuation for JD downloads as an FYI Site that tends to give me problems is such as openload.co **External links are only visible to Support Staff****External links are only visible to Support Staff** which uses olpair.com for the actual recaptcha also

OMG!! That worked perfectly. No issues with Openload links all day since deselecting those two options. THANK YOU!!!

Right Thanks ZT333, no issues at all with that hoster all day either.
Tips hat off to you! Not sure when or how those were set that way and Will try to see also when that issue pops up with any of them too and try to remember to look to see what is already checked ... Now as for other sites Captchas even via the web itself will have to wait and see of course ....

I am writing about Openload only.
If you have problems with uncheck mode please check back again. Pair mode has been fixed. In pair mode it seems that there is a problem that openload servers are not synchronized in rare cases. Therefore I implemented a pair mode retry process on openload plugin. |

Thanks god I'm not the only one! I was thinking maybe I became a robot. To reset my account here I constantly got slow captchas and Google rejected me like 20 times before I reset my password!

Looks like FileFox has dropped reCaptcha completely on their webpage downloads.

|

It's even getting worst now.
The open dialog for recaptcha is redirected directly to the download site, if I go back one page I can read this: Localhost is not in the list of supported domains for this site key. Looks like for me, they blacklisted "localhost"? |
#62
|
||||
|

localhost got disabled by Google since many months(October 2017) and no longer in use since then

That is correct. The original website is loaded and either a captcha is shown or the original/existing captcha is re-used.

Yes, that is the *new* handling and the desired behavior

I'm sorry, but this isn't 'desired' by me. I use JDownloader in order not to download through the browser. You lose all the benefits of using a download manager by doing this and render JDownloader obsolete.
I really hope this is a very temporary measure. |

I think it would be nice if there is a mode(old/new behavior) switch in extension.

Looks like I won't be updating my browser extension if that's the case. The way it's working with the version I have is fine by me. Yes, the extreme number of captchas it takes to get a download started is excessive, but some sites with malware embedded in their ad scripts are one of the reasons I use JD... to avoid opening those pages.

Downloads are still done through JDownloader!
You only need to solve the captcha in your browser. If you think there's an issue, please write a short mail to support@jdownloader.org and describe what's happening. The current way of solving these captchas is very new, we need your feedback to find out if it's working everywhere! Also let us know if the captcha difficulty is decreasing or not.

I don't believe there is a technical solution to this problem, at least not from JD side. The new handling is a stop gap at best; and doesn't really help. I just spent ten minutes trying to get through reCaptcha on uploaded.to and failed.
Maybe a political solution: - File a complaint against Google here: **External links are only visible to Support Staff**... - Send news tip/complaint to mainstream news media: **External links are only visible to Support Staff**... - Flood hosting sites that are using recaptcha with complaints. Threaten to begin campaign to ban sites using reCaptcha from forums. - If no response, in a week or so, do just that. - Continue sending complaints to: support@recaptcha.net. |

Dammit. Apparently I'd left autoupdate on for the browser plugin on Firefox. Since I'd been using the plugin on Chrome (and have the autoupdate OFF) I didn't get the "new,
Feedback: It's buggy as hell. 1) Does it improve Captcha difficulty? Not in the slightest. 2) The whole point of using JD for me on some websites was to NOT load their page and have to hunt down the (sometimes obscure, hidden) free download button. Now, back to hunting. 3) Plus some sites have a pre-captcha wait (sometimes 2-3 minutes) for the captcha countdown timer (and some sites, that's mandatory, if you move off the tab, the timer stops). JD normally does all that in the background, but now having to go to their page to capture the captcha... wait, wait, wait. 4) Specific to Uploaded: There's a 3 hour wait between free downloads. You start a download, and the next "slot" becomes available 3 hours later. Been that way for years. Everyone except JD seems to know that. It was bad enough that JD had to *try* to download (with a captcha) before getting the message that there was a wait time, but with the new plugin, JD never get that message... during the 3-hour window, now it just keeps trying the same file over and over and over... I switched back to the old plugin on Chrome and it at least picked up the wait time after one captcha cycle. So there's my feedback on the new plugin. I've switched back to the old one. The new one makes the experience so much worse. If it was meant to make the captchas easier, well, it didn't for me, but added a whole layer of exasperation I didn't want. If I wanted that, I'd download directly from the pages or use one of the lighter browser add-on downloaders. |

The new extension uses new *captcha handling* and one part of that was to *reuse* existing Captchas from website.
We will release an updated version today that will disable the *reuse* for now on and focus on the overlay version of the updated *captcha handling*. The main goal of the new *captcha handling* is to have minimal/no imptact/change to site to provide less/no surface for Google to detect *anything* and thereby have same/easier captcha.

@dabrown: please be patient and wait for updated version. We've tested the extension with many sites but there are thousands of sites out there that have *special stuff going on* that we've not tested/noticed and that's why sites with captcha *reuse* might fail. That's why we will disable that with next update.

We will release the update by tomorrow as we found some more websites that cause issues with new handling and have to think about other/different/better solution

reCaptcha complaints
Reposting links:
File an informal complaint with FCC: consumercomplaints.fcc.gov/hc/en-us When you get to the bottom of the complaint form, guess what is there. That's right. reCaptcha! Took me 5 minutes to fill out the form, 30 minutes to get through reCaptcha roadblock. Send news tip/complaint to major news media. Here is a list of a bunch with link to each homepage. The links to file a tip are usually pretty easy to find. ebizmba.com/articles/news-websites If the links above don't work just do search for: FCC complaint Top 15 News Websites Last edited by Jiaz; 17.07.2018 at 15:54. |

Actually, since yesterday it's much better for me at least for shareonline and uploaded. I had max 5 different captchas to solve and also no "looping" anymore.
