Default rapidgator download issues, dl restarts

I want to thank whoever discovered the size of "chunks" being the issue in the constant reloading of downloads. I reduced mine and now it seems to be working the way it used to!

Just happy that others also get their RG downloads fixed

The last real change in plugin is over 2 months old. So nothing changed at JDownloader site. I guess they simply have/had server issues and more connections higher risk that firewall/server kills the connection. A browser only uses 1 connection by default whereas some think it is good idea to use 20 connections in JDownloader and then wonder about download issues.

I suggest to use less connections, for example 1 and then check if more connections really improve situation/speed. Of course it highly depends on ISP/country but for example for me there is no reason to use more than 1 connection

Thanks for that, I was downloading just now and found the maximum chunks was 5, I initially though it was Rapidgator who imposed this limitation until I come across this thread here. It is probably a good idea cos before this 5 chunk limit was hardcoded, this afternoon, I was using 10 chunks and it was continuously restarting until I switched to just 1.

Its been almost 10 days now, may be you can take off the restrictions on JD2, if there are further problems I think we can manually adjust the number of segments to 5 or lower. Unless of course you know for sure the RG servers are still playing up.

Still stalling and restarting for me today. I had to roll back the chunks to 1 again. JD and Rapidgator were a reliable duo for years with chunks set to 10 and corresponding swift downloads. Now... Frustrating to say the least.

6 chunks was my setting before issues started, so that sounds like a correct conclusion.

Its another month now, I have been using Mipony to download Rapidgators links and using 10 (Mipony's maximum) chunks and have no problems for a number of weeks now. Maybe you can take your restrictions for RG up to 10 and see how it goes. Thanks.

Jiaz, I don't think its all Rapidgators problem, it might be JD2. This morning I used JD2 to download a 1gb file from RG and when it has connected with 5, it restarts and only when I switched it to 4 then it downloaded. Using the same link I put it on Mipony and using 10 chuncks it downloaded with no problem.

@ukbirdflu: JDownloader currently cannot handle situation when connections abort. So unstable server->connection issues->download issues with JDownloader because one connection error leads to abort of all others. Once the next download core is live this will no longer be a problem. But in the end it still means that the server has issues with many connections.
