the "(English_ASR).srt" appears in the linkgrabber, but no the "srt" file as standalone...anyway, the srt is generated when the "(English_ASR).srt" is downloaded and it's the same file. It's ok in that way?

Is a hard work to collaborate in the plugin develop/debug? (some tutorial?)

I'm developer and maybe I can help.

Thank you so much @Jiaz!

I guess you are taking about the filename.srt file (without language in it). That's part of *after download*, rename/copy the downloaded subtitle and rename to match video file for playback.

I see. That explains one question, but I tried another video (picked it at random - 480x360 resolution, low bitrate, 19MB) and while Youtube-dl downloaded it slowly (about 300 kB/s), it was still faster than JD2. So I think there's room for improvement there.

Please provide example links and tell me format, then I can compare. Did you compare speed with taskmanager because download speed might be calculated differently

Short question? why? anything that plays mkv should be able to play mp4?
I did some quick tests and it should be easy to change container but I had some seeking issues with mkv

It's not about any playing issue, it's about the container, it's easier to manage and edit MKV container.

Hope you'll resolve it

What kind of seeking issues you meet?

Default updating youtube pass account hangs

I had to change my Google password due to a security prompt from them
and now I kept getting a nag about my Youtube account pass on JD
so I am tryijng to change the pass for that but even if I delete and try to readd the account I get the checking pass box (see attachment) which just hangs everytime
and never closes or indicates the pass had failed or passed.
So I cannot add the Youtube account at all.
Before you ask, there's nothing wrong with my connection otherwise.

@Patr100: could you please remove the account. enable debug mode, Settings-Advanced Settings- Log.debugmodeenabled and restart JDownloader. then try to add and after failing, create new log please.
As far as I know at the moment account is not really required

Ok I restarted and tried to add the new account. After a while it did actually register.
and then immediately I got a Google security account notice email

"New sign-in on Unknown OS"

so I also think what triggered the previous one was possibly JD trying to sign in.
But never had that before trigger a Google alert.

I keep getting google alert emails sometimes for quite a while now and haven't been able to figure out what's causing them, until maybe now. After you posted that, I now think it's JD2 that's causing them. Thinking back on things I never did start getting emails like that until after I added my youtube account to JD2.

@Inpsectah: Your youtube-dl is much different than mine. I get very stable average speed (about the same as in JDownloader).Your going up, then stalling then drop to bottom and going up again. Please use taskmanager speedgraph because it would have shown the real speed and not a calculation.Maybe youtube-dl restarts download when speed drops? Taskmanager would have shown this.
In the end, youtube-dl and JD took about the same time.
In your video youtube-dl is slighty faster finished and I guess it is because of restart of download on speed drop.
And that might be the only difference that youtube-dl restart on slow speed while JDownloader simply continues to download.

Default Download keeps stopping every 2 minutes...

Why am I having connection problems when downloading music from YouTube? Here's what happened:
  1. The download runs fine for 2 minutes.
  2. The download speed drops suddenly to 0.
  3. About 1 minute later, it times out and (successfully) resumes from where it stopped.
  4. Repeat 1-3 until the download is finished.

I didn't have this problem last week. What could be causing it? I don't think it's bad weather causing it, because I didn't have this problem during the last winter storm. This happens with every YouTube download.

Lots of externalStop. Something stops Download. Maybe you've activated some scripts to autorestart on slow speed? Downloads do stop because either you or something(script, tool) does stop the download.

I get:
An Error Occured(Youtuber)
Try restarting this link (plugin out of date?)

The error happens after download finishes and "Converting" starts. The dash files are still there but the merge mp4 is never created.

@chiuchimu: could you please try to rename the file to something without special chars and try again? Log shows that the special (japanese?) chars case issues with ffmpeg

When I download 720p YouTube videos the metadata/attributes are never set.

Fields like "Contributing artists", "Year", etc are blank.

When I download 1080p videos or 480p videos the metadata is populated correctly.

Can this be fixed?

Thanks.

Is there a way to download the m4a audio with the lowest possible bitrate?
I'm downloading 48 files. For 2 of them the lowest available bitrate is 48kbps, for the others it is 96kbps.

The bitrate of the grabbed links is 192kbps.

I select all files and choose youtube.com -> change audio variant for 48 links, double click 48kbps (2/48). After that most files change their variant to ogg vorbis 64kbps or something like that (since 48kbps isn't available for them).

I think it would be better instead to set the variant to the closest m4a version, which is 96kbps. I think not many people would prefer ogg vorbis because it doesn't play properly in all players.

Up until the last update I was able to Grab Complete playlists from youtube
Now it seems to only grab the first one and then the link grabber seems to go Idle then finishes.

hmm odd seems like this may be the first time I have run into such as usually when the clicking on such that states playlist it has worked in the past for me but, then it has been a while also and have noticed also sometimes that the browser dosen't let me actually switch to the next one easily if I want to see one further down the list. I guess they must have made a change that I was thinking was a browser issue more than them creating a newer type of link list versus a play list.

Hope you all can get around to supporting this soon.
