Default Twitch.tv VOD format

Twitch has apparently changed their VOD format, so JD's twitch.tv needs updating.

It is already updated - because of that, the twitch plugin is now JD2-only.
Simply use JD2 and it should be okay.

Log: 10.02.15 21.26.27to10.02.15 21.26.26 jdlog://5206437732241/

Test links:
**External links are only visible to Support Staff****External links are only visible to Support Staff** (4 hour VOD)
**External links are only visible to Support Staff****External links are only visible to Support Staff** (18 second VOD)

VOD link adds a list of files with various qulities, instead of the highest quality file.

Size is listed as unknown.

Starting the download causes JD2 to start estimating the size, instead of discovering it immediately.

Download is very slow.

Downloaded file is not playable by any player.

What do you mean by "various files"?
I get e.g. this:

So what's the problem with that?
You can easily remove qualities you don''t like.

Only manually.

That's not the main issue, though.

Like I said, the download is very slow, and the downloaded file is broken and unplayable.

slow download can't do much about it, since that's a factor of your internet connection and twitch.tv. Also keep in mind that HLS is very small parts and speeds can be reduced because soon as speed starts to gain the part has completed, and new part needs to be downloaded.

downloaded videos not working could be issue off ffmpeg or twitch I'm not sure. The last time I experienced that I had to upgrade ffmpeg. I will investigate

Upgrading didn't change behaviour

I downloaded your so called 18second vod, its actually 1 hour long, and roughly 669MiB length
Link; ZPs-NEW PATCH-VIKINGS-KEYS-TALK ABOUT THE PATCH HERE! -720p_h264-142kbits_aac.mp4; 701862555; **External links are only visible to Support Staff****External links are only visible to Support Staff**

Size doesn't work for until download starts and it estimates average part size, you can not have a instance filesize with HLS under our current implementation. Sorry just the way it is.

only thing which surprised me was %complete was wrong and I haven't had the time to look into this further.

other than that download works, and is plays fine in VLC here. I didn't test your 4 hour video link. By the way video might be only playable when its fully downloaded.

It was 18 seconds long when I posted it. I checked it now, and it's over 6 hours.

Maybe the issue was that JD thought the download was complete when it wasn't, which caused the video to be unplayable.

I'll try again and report my findings.

Either way, the download is still drastically slower than before, and it won't split into chunks.

Also, the downloads are no longer resumable.

Tried it again, and it's still no go.

JD indicates download is finished, but the resulting file is unplayable.

the 1080 links are like 10gb and I don't have the time or bw to test this. If it fails it fails because ffmpeg (I'm assuming). I had no problem with 720 as I said earlier.

I've added best and quality selections to /v/ support

this has slowed down the plugin significantly, as all qualities checked and then analysed and graded.

Really, are they 10 GB for you?
For me, each 1080p was about 500 MB.

Anyways, thx for the update!

yes I used the link in my last post (with url), it jumps from 8-10gb depending on segment it's on, and applied forward estimate.

I'd say at 500meg something failed for you and download stopped. This would also explain why your download stopped working. Interrupted HLS downloads are not playable (at least in VLC). Maybe due to missing meta/index information.

OK, so the problem was entirely with ffmpeg after all.

Manually updating it did the trick.

All the aforementioned problems still exist, but at least the downloaded file is actually playable.

Thanks for adding the automatic quality selection.

Which aforementioned problems do you mean exactly?
Thanks for the feedback!

Slow downloads + no resumability.

Also, just downloaded another broken file.

This is a complete mess.

As said, we let ffmpeg handle these type of downloads.
Consider asking them to improve their HLS support.

updating ffmpeg has helped me before with HLS issues, slow download caused by small segment size and peoples internet ramping download speeds slowly, once the speed gets faster download has completed, and the next segment starts over.
