Default Annoying save box

Whenever I need to select a folder the box that pops up only shows a few characters of the folder names. I often have to slide name column over and it does not remember this setting. Here is what my documents folder looks like is JD2. I am using a larger font which only makes it worse but even with the default font it is a nuisance.

Here is how JD1 displays the same folder:

you have details view toggled, vs titled

see the top right hand corner of your two images, selection of tile and details view is selected differently.

selected titles view.. and its now the same.

keep in mind that display size in details view is dependant on dialog window horizontal size. the wider the window the more text shown. It also remembers which title/details and sizings of columns (Details) and window size each time its changed.

Don't fight the system, use it to your advantage. :]

Yes that worked. I would think many users would prefer that as the default. There is still a problem in the detailed view. When you select to save why are the columns squeezed together so narrowly? You have to widen them every time you bring it up. You can stretch the box wider and it does not change the column width. If you change a column width in the download or linkgrabber screen JD saves the change and it comes up the same way until you change it again.
