Default Caching already downloaded files (preventing re-download) | Download history

The public domain / open source program ripme2 can "remember" which files it has downloaded from which web site.

I have tried to leave the files in the download queue in JDownloader, and indeed this will prevent re-download.

However, that method quickly creates clutter, and after a while the performance is severely affected (long response times) when the number or already downloaded files increases.

I would like to propose an optional feature in JD (like a check mark in the general settings) where already downloaded files are "remembered" and not redownloaded. In ripme2 this has been done with no notable performance impact.

I'm sorry but this will be a disappointing answer for you.

Up to some point it could be your JD simply running out of RAM. Check the following article:

I'm sorry but JD was never designed to keep a "download history" and I also doubt that "ripmeapp2" will have a nice performance if you threw millions of items at it.
However, that same request has been asked by other users in the past.
See other similar threads e.g.:

* Yes I know some of those threads are about "move downloads to trash" which might seem like another topic but it is all related to having a better/real "download history"!

In the past we've also already given reasons on why this will not happen soon/ever and why it would be so complicated to change the current system.

However JDownloader is open source and you're free to start working on said features, see:
