I only want to help you improve your app and youtube plugin by providing you a feedback accept my respect to all JD Develoeprs
1. Youtube Subtitles (filename.srt): after downloading a subtitle from youtube its *EXT* is "filename.srt" in Jdownloader, but after it is downloaded it changes to "filename..srt" two DOTS before the *EXT*.
- The second thing about subtitles is there are new subtitles in youtube, you can see it from this video here
Spoiler:
(**External links are only visible to Support Staff**...)
so the problem is when you download the subtitle file it looks like this =>
Spoiler:
<font color="#CCCCCC">i would like</font><font color="#E5E5E5"> to talk to you about an</font>
the complete .srt file content

"**External links are only visible to Support Staff**
you can see some code in there it looks like it is HTML code.
2. Download Speed for Youtube: Some videos of some channels can be downloaded very fast, and can have up to 20 connections, and some only download by 1 connection even if you set the max. chunks per download to 20, eg. (**External links are only visible to Support Staff**...), when I downloaded some videos from this channel it took alot to download and it only downloaded from one connection even (my max. chunks per download is 20), for example if I have 1MB/s internet speed in other videos it downloads in 50KB/s from certain channels. eg. above channel "avelx"
-when downloading certain videos in 60fps or 25fps their connection is also 1 and does not make any other connections.
3. Wrong file sizes: from several days ago, I noticed this issue, and that is when you download a file it show the size smaller or bigger that the real video size, example when downloading a certain video it shows that its size is 150MB in the "Size" col, but after downloading it, it show that it has downloaded 200MB in "Byted Loaded" col and vice versa, the size is 150MB and "Byted Loaded" col is 100MB and "Bytes Left" is 50MB, and here is a prove by image
Spoiler:
"**External links are only visible to Support Staff**
the first file is 12.57MB and it downloaded 21.36MB, and the fifth file is 49.74MB and it downloaded 47.54MB
I hope this was useful.
!! I have tested all issues in several OSes and IPs,but you can also test these issues in your Jdownloader.
@Dennis C. Thresher
re: 1
can you provide example youtube URL please? Htmlentities need to be formatted into something useful for subtitles.
re: 2
some downloads are not chunkable
re: 3
related to 2, size does change at times (hls like downloads)
@Jiaz: In most cases the videos I download, are even 60fps or 25fps.
They have smaller sizes than 30fps, I think the original video uploaded from the youtubers are often smaller than youtube processed videos.
As you may know youtube converts the uploaded videos, so due to its conversion its size increases, but the original files are still smaller, so because of that I download smaller sizes "60fps/25fps...".
can't you set an option in the youtube plugin to select the original file format uploaded "eg. 1080p 60fps". I think it is possible, but maybe hard.
Most apps that download from youtube don't even have 60fps... options, so because of that I love what Jdownloader does for me
I can not post in other people's threads posts !!!
a)I forgot link:
**External links are only visible to Support Staff****External links are only visible to Support Staff**
b)All default setting YouTube
re: restriction
yes you are in a heavily restricted group, but I thought you could post in threads in which you have posted previously, and not the owner. If you insist it can't then maybe not. I have removed that restriction for now.
re a:
you always forget either log or example link. I don't see how this is acceptable when you have 6700+ posts and you know the rules!
re b:
ok, default setting will be '*VIDEO_NAME*' in this case it will be 'Danzig - Land an Meer und Strom (1939) ▪ Gdańsk ▪ City Portrait'
and it works as intended on my test platforms. Please check the customised packagename component as maybe you've changed it ? as its not reproducible issue for me.
@Dennis: Can you please give one exact example link (that leads to a single video) and please tell me what variant exactly you are loading (see variant column, I need the full variant ID). As far as I know there is no information about original/uploaded file. JDownloader parses available itags from youtube (please correct me if I'm wrong).
You can either post them here ot send to support@jdownloader.org
Hi, I wanted to download this video: **External links are only visible to Support Staff****External links are only visible to Support Staff**
but JDownloader says, it is offline:
Is there a problem with music videos?
€ Every download variant works, except 1620p 24fps MP4-Video AAC-Audio
