Hi remi, tnx, I read this already and checked. But I think everything is ok.
Even stranger, I found old version (the one that does not install, just unpack), and after update same thing is happening there also. That version worked perfectly.

java.net.SocketException: Connection reset
firewall/av/router killed the connection
this can also happen when using p2p at the same time, cause p2p can overflow your router's nat table.

I think this is not the case.
Although we changed nothing in any configuration (router/firewall/av), it just started to show this error.
For test I completely isolated PC (no AV, no firewall, router does nothing except the basics during test), and still the same error.
I will wait for new version, perhaps it will solve this issue.

Tnx for fast replies and br

Default RE: No permission to write to hard disk

Just adding to the knowledgebase on this error.

I've been running JD almost non-stop 24/7 for more than a year now. I only get the error with uploading.com

As a free one chunk user, the error mostly occured when the download was 99.9% complete. Now as a one month premium member (using 2/3 chunks) the error occurs very frequently and at any point during the download.

Downloading a 1 gig file from uploading.com, that is split into say 8 parts is quite an effort. Less than half of the 8 parts will download without errors and I will need to enable/resume about 20 times to get the rest.

I'll try my next uploading.com download using one chunk and report back here.

Default RE: No permission to write to hard disk

I'm posting with results as promised in post 206 above.

I've been ONE CHUNK downloading from uploading.com for over 24 hours now with zero errors. If I was using multiple chunks, I would expect the error count to be approaching one hundred by now.

I have not tested with Java 6u25.

1) please move your <jdownloader> directory to c:\progs\jdownloader. Does that help?

2) If that does not fix the problem, please try changing to Java J2SE 32 bit JRE 6 update 21 from "java.sun.com/products/archive/j2se/6u21/index.html" and see if that helps.

Please let us know your results. We also have other things you can try.

java.net.SocketException: Connection reset
your router/firewall/av/megaupload is killing the connection.
setup firewall/av correct and make sure you do not use p2p at the same time, only when setup router to enough half open connection/open connections.

Red face how to fix

guys, the error message is really misleading. At least what you could do is print out the root exception from the stack (connection reset) instead of this one, and people won't chase you anymore.

Another suggestion is that, instead of disabling the download items, you should provide an option to restart them automatically, for eg. retry maximum 5 times before disable due to connection errors. I have this couple of downloads and set it run over the weekend in my lab. When I get back couple of days later, most of them are disabled due to this error. If the downloads retried after failure (even reset, not resume), it'll be much more helpful!

I think both issues haven't been solved because that would take too much time. These issues have been reported a long time ago.

Since the end of 2009 a new release of jD is in the make and I'm sure it will address these issues.

I know that it's solved, but just recently I had this problem and I solved it by changing my Port back to 80. I also disabled my MegaUpload account and the downloads were back to normal.

Default [Aborted]: No permissions to write to hard disk

Hello everyone,

I too am having this problem. I've been using JDownloader for quite some time now and have never had any issue with it. However, about 3 days ago, I've been getting this error. I have this issue when using fileserve. I have yet to try it using a different site. If anyone could help me fix this I'd greatly appreciate it. The log is posted below. Thanks in advanced!

the problem is esetnod32 web scanner > go to advanced setting in your virus software and disable the web access scanner (it is useless anyway)

or you could add java and javaw to the web access scanner exceptions list, please note that some users still experienced problems even when java and javaw were added to the exceptions.

If this is the case then Nod32 must be removed from system and a different virus software must be installed if necessary

I tried your suggestion and it doesn't change anything. I highly doubt there is a problem with the compatibility of the two programs as I've had them both for quite some time and I only began experiencing these issues a few days ago. Is there anything else that might fix this?

I think Freeloader is giving good advice. In order to know that your virus is causing the problems you need to un-install it. Did you really remove it, because such malware is very difficult to remove? You might need special un-install software and registry cleaners.

Please, also read about connection problems and their solutions.

I didn't remove it. I just shut off the web access scanner. I did however test out another file from another site. It appears that JDownloader is working perfectly fine with MegaUpload, but for some reason FileServe is giving me the aborted errors. I find it odd that I'm having any such problems considering I've been downloading from FileServe for a long time now.

Shutting off such services isn't sufficient.

If you can download the FSe link with your browser something is blocking jD or your jD is not up to date.

I recommend to :-

1) Allow java and javaw in your firewall and virus software. Disable (or un-install) the html/web download scanner in your virus software.

2) Reduce the Max.Con. setting (bottom right corner of jD window) to 1. Reset the affected links.

3) Restart jD twice.

4) Exit jD and launch jdupdate.jar in your jD program folder.

I'm sorry if you've already read and applied all those recommendations.

I'm having this problem for some days now, only with Fileserve.
I'm not using any antivirus at all. Just one connection running. JD updated. No problems until Wednesday or so.

I suspect there's something wrong with Fileserve itself or that they did some changes in order to make JDownloader not working anymore...

Here is part of my log:

I think it must be temporary server problems at FSe. I'm seeing this type of problems for several days now and I haven't found an example link that doesn't work in my jD here.

Please, first test it in your browser before you post new reports.

Actually, I just tested I can't download those files either with Opera or with Firefox... so, it must be a Fileserve problem. Anyway, if you wish I may send you (via private message) one of the links that don't work for me to test.

I've had the same problem, tried different solutions, and I have just found the good one (at least, for me) :

you need to update java, it may solve your problem.

(When I started downloading a file, it would download something like 5 MB and then stop the download with a "accès en écriture au disque refusé" in french, that may translate in "no permissions to write...")

Edit : still not working : I can download more, but still can't complete the download...

This problem is probably caused by some FSe servers and might also depend on the time of the day. All the example links download fine here in jD.

As long as nobody can give an example link that downloads fine in a browser but not in jD, there's no problem on jD's side.

It's very strange. I also verified that downloading the SAME files using my NAS Linux box (with pyLoad) works, while downloading with JDownloader (or any browser) in my Windows 7 system does not.
As I said, I have no anti-virus on my Windows system, no firewall (I use an external one) and the only resident real-time protection is by Windows Defender. I already tried to disable it with no luck: after 1, 2, 5 MB at most the download stops with "no permission to write to disk" and a "connection reset" on the log. I really can't understand what's going on at fileserve...

You wrote the links can be downloaded but not with jD. Where are the links?

are you sure you can dowloads filerserve links from your internet browser? because if i try it, after sometime i keep getting something like" unable to read the file origin", or something like that...so i don't really think it's a JD problem, or even an antivirus problem

seyfer: this is not what I've said.

remi: here is an example link I couldn't download with jD for days, until this morning:
-- link removed --
Luckily, right now I can actually download it! So something must have been changed at fileserve or at the network level!

Did you restart jD twice?

Could you please provide some example links?
