reCAPTCHA is resolved with browser plugin, only afterwards the plugin checks if file already exists. In Free Mode, this wastes a download slot.

other hoster plugins like Rapidgator.net or ddownload.com do this check before and add status "File already exists" to downloadlist entry.

@mav: This has nothing to do with Katfile. File exists checks are done on safe filename only and katfile website doesn't provide a safe filename. Rapidgator/ddownload and others provide a safe filename via api and therefore the check is done prior download.
You can enable Settings->Advanced Settings->GeneralSettings.allowunsafefilenameforfileexistscheck
if you allow unsafe filenames to be used for check.
Safe filename -> the complete/final filename is known
Unsafe filename -> the filename can be shortened/incomplete or not known prior download
